Signature at MGM Grand

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has stayed here? All good reviews on Tripadvisor.

It will only be three nights in December and I'm happy with the prices they're quoting.

If anyone has experienced this hotel I'd be interested.

Yes we were recently at the Signature - for 4 nights 2-6 Oct. I've got loads of pictures (which I promised Attitude23!) but have been unable to upload due to problem in Photos forum - I'll try again later to see if it's been fixed.

We thought the Signature was fabulous, truly luxurious rooms and a "small hotel" atmosphere but with all the buzz of the Strip a stone's throw away. There's much debate on Tripadvisor about the time is takes to walk along the walkway between the Signature & MGM. I timed it and it was bang on 5 minutes!

Not sure if you've read up on the Signature, and in fact we only realised this fully when we were there, but the idea is that suites in each of the three Signature towers are actually bought as Condos by people wanting a pad in Vegas. This is why they have a full blown kitchen, incl. granite worktops, oven, grill & dishwasher. They also have a sliding patio door to a full size balcony, mind you we didn't use ours as we felt too giddy looking down from such a height! At the moment they've only completed Tower 1, although Tower 2 is close behind. What they seem to be doing is marketing the suites in Tower 1 as regular Vegas Hotel suites but I'm guessing that over time they will be releasing some of them for sale?

You access the Signature via a private gated area and the car parking is 100% valet - you can't park your car yourself!

Watch out for the $15 per day "resort fee" that gets added to your bill. Many moans about this on Tripadvisor and, strictly speaking, I really don't know why they don't simply incorporate this into the price - it just gets people backs up! Nonetheless it includes full use of gym (quite a good one), bottled water replenished in fridge each day, daily paper and in room wi-fi.

OK - honest suggestion time: I would definitely recommend the Signature to anyone who likes spashing out on luxurious accommodation and most importantly, knows Vegas well and appreciates being set back in a smaller, quiter & more intimate hotel. The Signature is not a "resort" hotel - if you want buzz and action it is not for you. If this is your first time to Vegas I think I'd have to recommend staying somewhere other than the Signature - somewhere where you'll be in the midst of crazy Vegas, perhaps a suite at the Bellagio with a view over the fountains...or maybe a suite at the Venitian, THEhotel @ Mandalay or Four Seasons @ Mandalay.

Just to echo Jame's post, I had friends stay there a couple of weeks ago, a quick tour had to be done and I found the suite's to be very nice.

When you start to look at the cost of one of the suite's against the cost of a room or suite at a major strip hotel the price I think is more than resonable.

Cheers for the input guys, I booked last night, $770 for three nights (Thu/Fri/Sat), really looking forward to it.

My third time in Vegas so will be nice to get away from smokey casinos!

I'm joining the party a little late but wanted to give my 2-cents-worth as well.

I stayed here with my wife and our 2-year-old for a mini-reunion with family from the UK and I can only echo James' spot-on comments.

One additional thing we really liked was that after check-in you don't have to make your way through a casino to get to your room, which is the case in many of the resorts.

I'd definitely recommend it!

We've just got back from this place, thought it was fine, very nice but we had a few problems with service. Bottles of water not put in fridge (or even in the room). Concierge not getting back to us. The toilet being blocked when we checked in, sink, hairdryer, lights, switches breaking. First room we checked into was not ready, still dirty and unmaid up so we quickly switched! Twice during our 11 nights the room was not cleaned. All in all I seriously spent an houron hold to the front desk/housekeeping/maintenance - that was the other issue, it took them so long to answer the phone when we reported these problems!
It's still a nice little resort though but we had a few too many problems to go back, we were probably very unlucky but when all this happens it affects your personal view.

How long has the first tower been open? Just wondering if some of the problems Daywalker experienced could be down to teething problems? Even the Wynn had numerous problems and complaints when it first opened.

The rooms look great in the promo vids on their website and as Dave says, substantially less expensive than the equivalent at one of the top strip hotels; Bellagio, Venetian or Wynn.

It opened in May or June this year I think Bazz.

Hi Daywalker, sorry to hear of your problems. There are a few mentions on Tripadvisor re the "forgetting the water" problems but it seems you encountered more niggles than most! The only issue we had was with one of the bathroom lightbulbs, they fixed it in minutes. As Bazz suggests, let's hope these are teething problems.

I really do believe we were just unlucky. I too went back onto trip advisor last night and we seemed to get all the problems that others just had one of!
These things happen and lets be honest, none of it was too serious and it never spoiled the holiday, it was just a constant niggle for us. We had two lights go too now I come to remember [ii]:D. It's still a lovely place but I reckon we'll probably try somewhere else next time.

On the upside the girls in Starbucks were great, after a few days we were on first name terms and they knew my order as soon as I walked in Or maybe that's bad as it shows what a caffeine addict I am [:p]

Question for those of you who have stayed recently, there are some comments on TripAdvisor about construction noise, also I note that on Google Earth (old pic probably) the tower cranes are still present on towers 2 and 3, so how was it?

Barry, have you thought about the Skyloft's MGM there going at some good rate's at the mo, and after staying in a Salon suite at the Wynn, Cyprus suite and Penthouse at the Bellagio the Skyloft's would be my first choice[y]

Bazz, yes they are still working on Towers 2 & 3. What we heard wasn't so much your typical construction noise (drilling, thuds..etc) but on a couple of mornings around 7 a distant "beeping" was evident. Not sure exactly what this was, possibly the heavy goods vehicles moving about? Didn't bother us at all, in fact last year we had a suite in the Bellagio and the noise from the I15 was particularly noticeable, again though, not disruptive.

Hope this helps. Nothing to stop you making a special request for a room on the side of the hotel furthest from Tower 2?

That's all we heard too, the beeping noise a truck/heavy vehicle makes when reversing, it wasn't loud or bothersome at all. The beds are too comfy to be woken by something like that!

Phil, unfortunately Skyloft has no availability for all the four nights we are looking at.

Thnks for the heads up on the noise guys, I imagine as we are still two months out and given the dates in question, not too much work will be going on.

Spent last weekend in Vegas at the Signature. Had a corner suite on the 28th floor (602), with balcony and bedroom overlooking the MGM Grand, Excalibur, Mandalay etc. Don't recall any construction noise at all, even when the balcony door was left open. Maybe there is no construction work at the weekend? Tower 2 looks to be almost complete, Tower 3 progressing well.

Didn't have any problems with the room at all. Water, lightbulbs fine, no corridor noise. Check in staff, concierge and bell desk very attentive as you would expect. Nice to be able to sit in the public areas downstairs (bar, starbucks, lobby) and not have the background noise from a casino. Walkway to MGM Grand is easily navigated and you can also get to the strip via East Harmon. Travel time to/from the airport is minimal too.

I'd certainly recommend it, especially if you can get a good deal and/or a suite with a good view.

....but you will see that from the outside Tower B now looks finished so I guess in a month or twos time outside of tower C will also appear finished.

stayed there in October. the feeling is of you being very important to them, made to feel very exclusive, especially when you enter the gates, the noise situation is actually caused by the Marriott accross the street, more so than the 3rd tower, but it is a trade off, if you want a strip view, you have to put up with some construction noise. As for noise in the corridor, what someone on Trip adviser mentioned, how come he just didn't call security straight away!!! would have stopped in 2 minutes flat. There was a problem with cleaning, when we checked in, our room wasn't cleaned properly, so we called down, made a bit of a fuss, and by magic was upgraded to 36th floor 1 bed on the corner!!!! Everyday, we had probs with cleaning, and water was not replenished. the major problem is to do with the Valet, remember that you can not self park, so every time you want your car, you phone down, and it is waiting for you when you get there, but of course, you have to tip a couple of bucks EVERYTIME YOU WANT TO DRIVE ANYWHERE!!!
all in all, a nice place, checked prices for the 15th. Feb. when we are coming again, $2,000 per night[V]

I have just booked for Feb, $1020 inc tax for 4 nights, this worked out slightly less than a standard room at bellagio!, and includes contintenal breakfast delivered to the room.- hope I've got a good deal!

Andy, seriously considering staying here over New Year, so look forward to your TR and esp your pics! Oh, and any tips you can give to help a fellow V-Flyer's stay be more memorable

Just got back from Vegas and are going back in Feb 07.

Whilst there, we asked the Signature for a look at their rooms and viewed at jnr suite and a 1 bed suite. Obviously the 1 bed suite has wins every time but still the jnr looks great.

The offer for Feb in the signature looks good and I'm consideing this one myself, but can't get to grips with the $25 offer of upgrade from Jnr to 1 bed, but then it quotes the 1 bed at something like £100 more per night. Suppose I'll have to phone.

PS. We also looked at TheHotel suite and a standard resort room at the Wynn. I felt TheHotel was a little too dark but liked the Wynn Room (which overlooked the golf course). We stayed this time in the Venezia Tower room and liked it too.
