Treasure Island

I'm off to the States in a couple of weeks and am staying at the Treasure Island for a few days. Anyone had any experience of this hotel? If you have, what did you think? Any thoughts appreciated.

I stayed there in April for one night and have to say i found it to be a good hotel, the hotel had a refurb i think it was about 1 1/2 years ago and the room's are still fresh and no complaint's, all in all it's a good hotel if you get it at a good rate.

We haven't stayed there Phil and have only visited the casino floor and watched the Galleons fighting at the front of the property, it seemed to be much the same as most upper mid-market Vegas hotels from what we saw. You might want to check out TripAdvisor?

Slightly OT, but when using Tripadvisor I'd suggest using it as a guideline only to get a general feel for the quality of a hotel. A large proportion of the comments left tend to be from over-fussy guests who (in my mind, at least) tend to be turning minor quibbles into something along the lines of: "I'll never stay here again because they didn't treat my like a living God!" [:p]

Thanks for your replies. I just had a look at Trip Advisor too. Thanks Bazz. I understand what you mean about the comments Darryl, but on the whole they seem pretty good and if it has been refurbed fairly recently that's good too.

Now galleons fighting in front of the hotel? This I've got to see. Don't get that at the local Holiday Inn Say hi back to Pam.

A few years since we stayed at TI on our first Vegas trip but we enjoyed it then. Quite a good location now since the refurbs around it too. It looks like the pirate battle has transmogrified from a old fashioned clash of pirates to the "Sirens of TI"..[:I]

Agreed. What we do is look at the tenor of the reviews in the light of reviews of places we have stayed. I do wonder whether some even stay at the hotels they write about.

We stayed at Treasure Island or ÔTIÕ for four nights last October, I personally thought it was a great hotel and offered excellent value for money. We got a package which gave us a strip view room with king bed and a few other ÔperksÕ like a free cocktail.

Whilst this is a massive hotel, it didnÕt feel as big or as daunting as some other strip hotels, getting to and from the rooms was quite easy.

The rooms themselves were spotless, spacious and the view was fantastic. The room dŽcor was slightly OTT for my personal taste, but hey, this is Vegas.

I highly recommend the Dishes buffet, we ate there on our first night, my only complaint was that I was tired and didnÕt enjoy it as much as I should have. For breakfast we got a take-out from Starbucks.

The pool area isnÕt huge, but that probably wonÕt affect you too much. The gaming floor was great, all the staff I encountered seemed pleasant and it smelt very fresh, some older casinos do smell very smokey.

Totally agree - Ive been to hotels and resorts where the TA reports did not match the experience I had at all! [:?]

Just back from the US and just to report that I really enjoyed TI. Not the glitziest hotel by any means, but the beds were super-comfortable (make sure you get one of the refurbed rooms), the place was clean and the coffee shop downstairs did a mean breakfast and the requisite huge burger for lunch. I agree with djmatthews comment that whilst the hotel is still big, it isn't as daunting as some of them (MGM Grand for example) and I liked that. I'd stay there again.

The slots were pretty tight until the last night, when I won enough and more to compensate for the previous nights efforts. I'm not a big gambler.
