Hi all,

We're taking my wifes family to Orlando next year and it's their first trip to the States. My sister in law has restricted movement and finds it quite difficult to walk any distance (we're already planning to book her a scooter at the parks). I'm hoping you can help us with 2 questions.

1. Can we ask for assistance at both the airport here and Orlando?

2. At the moment we're flying PE but they're going economy. Is it possible to prebook a bulkhead seat for her with a bit more legroom or is it a case of getting to the airport early and seeing what's available?

Thanks for your help

The affected passenger in question should ring to speak to Special assistance with VAA (or if you are booked through VH, then Special Services with them)

They are brilliant at looking after anyone who needs that little bit of help.

got to add to that we had special assistance 2 years ago and they were really great

going again in 2 weeks time and they have been really great with providing special assistance both at lgw and mco

just one thing to add though

depending on what car you have out there it may benifit you to hire a scooter from an outside firm
we have done it teice now and not only is it much much cheaper -this year im paying $10 a day as im there for 4 weeks - but also you can use it out side the parcks too
it is a long long walk around the parking lot even if you get a tram

finally if you have a uk blue badge take it with you then you can park in the disabled areas in the parks

if you want any more info please pm me

As Juliet has said, the best thing for you to do is speak to special assistance, this pageon the VS website gives you more details and the contact numbers you will need

You will not be able to pre-book a bulkhead, these are only allocated on check in at the airport (not even at OLCI)but pax travelling with babies or young children are given priority on bulkhead seats so even getting to the airport mega early might not guarantee you one (this was discussed at length on a recent thread on VF).

I broke my leg earlier this year and had to be transported to and from the plane in a wheelchair.

Everything was fine going out, but coming back they forgot to send the wheelchair, and most of the crew got off the plane before I did!

Got to say though, the crew on the flights were fantastic, really helpful.

Hmmm..not strictly true....

Bulkheads can be pre-requested by Special Assisatance and the pre-flight unit in Mumbai more often than not will assign you one.

Also infants are highest priority for sky cot positions, not bulkheads. Not all bulkheads have the BSCT, and these are generally held back for special assistance passengers.

Thanks for your advice, I'll make sure she contacts VH to get things organised.
