I have to go to Bangalore to see a partner company for work.

I see VS dont go direct, but I wondered if anyone had any tips of the most TP friendly way to get there.. I dont mind indirect flights and Im not going on BA :-)

thanks

Jet Airways is the best option- You can connect via DEL or BOM. They have 4-5 daily services from Delhi to Bangalore and 6-7 from Mumbai to Bangalore. Bank those TP's with your VS sectors to either DEL or BOM.

I cannot see a way of earning mileage and TP's all the way to Bangalore though VS or a partner airline unfortunately...:D

The TP's have already been covered - So I will just remind you of the 500 miles you get when staying at a Taj Hotel. There are a few in Bangalore (some better than others). The West End is nice but the wrong side of town for where I worked. I did spend a few months in the Taj Residency which is fine for a week or two, but not for a longer stay.

The most TP friendly way is via Bombay/Mumbai on VS then connect to BLR on a Jet or Kingfisher - this is what I did yesterday and it's not to bad, apart from the long bus ride between terminals at BOM. I did hear a rumour while there this week that Kingfisher might become a partner airline, but not yet!

Alternatively, and not as TP friendly, is Emirates via DXB (just started this route DXB-BLR last Sunday) or on KLM via AMS or Lufthansa via Franfurt. The BA flight is however the fastest route, being direct. On Emirates you can generally get a business fare for less than Virgin PE and have the cars, lounges etc.

PM me if you need any tips/comments about Bangalore - I think the Taj Residency is fine but the Royal Orchid is a better hotel (and has it's own golf course), the Leela Palace is of course fantastic and has partly been my base this week. All have the advantage of being near the airport which is vital - given that BLR traffic can make the same journey anything between 30 and 60 mins!

You silly gooses! :) mysteryflyer does not mind indirect routings but does want to get the most TPs and such with VS. Well SQ flys to BLR via SIN. If going in J or F I would suggest BD to CDG then SQ to BLR via SIN; so you can post a TR on the new SQ J and or F. BD and SQ are both FC partners and be reminded that SQ earns more TPs than most FC partners.

SQ LHR to BLR via SIN involved a 12 hour wait which doesnt seem a good idea although its a tier point bonanza. VS to BOM then another airline to BLR seems a good idea. Especially as its an evening departure which fits my schedule well. I will let you all know the choice and how it goes...
