Do flights booked as part of a holiday bought through VH qualify for tier points? Am sure I also read that,if you pay for a holiday with Amex (white), it attracts triple points, if booked before July next year. Am I right? Has anyone done this and actually had the coorect tier points (if applicable) and airmiles put on their account?

Hi Clare,
All VS flight earn TP's regardless of where they are booked from as of March this year. What you will earn exactly depends on what fare bucket you are booked in - V-flyers fare guide for TP's is here. If you scroll down to the fare bucket your booked into, it will tell you exactly what you will earn....[y]

As for paying for your VH - If you pay with the VS Amex white version you will earn 3 x miles (not Tier Points), this system is running correctly - MBNA will send the correct number of miles you have earned to FC monthly after your statement has been raised.

Your Amex earns you miles only, Tier points can only be accrued by taking qualifying flights only with VS or it's partners.

Hope this helps....

Thanks Rob, that makes sense and was pretty much what I'd thought. But then, what I think and what is actual - don't always tally!

Actually Rob, paying for your VH hol with your white Amex will only earn you 2 x miles, not 3!! Full details for the benefits for the White Amex are here

Neil - The VS white and black Amex came with a bonus miles if you were an existing mastercard account holder until July 2007.

It's no longer on va.com as they seem to be focusing on new business. It can be found at he start of this thread...:)

Yes, that's right Neil. It's been conveniently removed the site, I suspect because there are unlikely to be any people who had the existing mastercard who haven't swapped.

What worries me though, is it the right rate isn't applied, I'd then be forced to trying to get it corrected. From other people's posts on here about VH, I would have no faith in getting someone in India to put it right. That's not being racist, it's being realist.[:0]

Cat - if you don't get the correct number of miles from your booking (I just have for paying for my VH on my Amex, but only 2x as I did not have the mastercard!), you should take it up directly with MBNA not VH, it is a CC issue not a VH issue and as you quite rightly say, the VH India staff struggle to understand the problems with holidays let alone to try and educate them in the ins and outs of the CC benefits!!

You should be fine Cat, I've paid for VS flights (direct with VS) on my AMEX black and earned 6x the cost of those flights, so it follows that any ex MC holder paying with AMEX white will earn 3x [y]
