Connection Help - AA at JFK from LAX

Arriving into JFK on AA from LAX need to get to an AA eagle flight to DCA.
Arrive JFK 8.00am
Depart JFK 9.45

Is this possible? What is it like connecting at JFK domestic to domestic AA to AA Eagle.

PS i Have never connected before and am only doing this as it saves a £200 comapared to the direct flight.

Any help would be great.

Should not be a major problem as long as AA checks your bags through and your flight is on time.AA and American Eagle are both in terminal 9 at JFK so it's just a case of find which gate you will be leaving from on your eagle flight.

The Eagle flights tend to go right at the end of T9, they aren't next door but they aren't miles apart. No different to say Gate 20 from the shopping area at LHR T3.
