Been hearing about this for a while now, glad to see that they're going ahead with it.

If only they can get some more A380s produced [:?]

Unfortunately there is more bad news for Airbus as Emirates have just dumped a $4bn order for 340s and say they would prefer to buy 748s. The Times, which reported, also speculated this was the end of the 34x series ...

Not all bad news, Emirates has said on record there direct firm order for 10 A346 has been taken up by a third pary, but the question is who?

Also i can't see the 340 coming to an end anytime soon as they have not long introduced the A346HGW.

Someone said it was VS, which if it is then would be a good short term measure pending A380 deliveries. Otherwise I can only see an existing A340 operator taking them on.

Which could mean turning the existing options into firm orders?

Would hate to see the A340 line shut down[V]

Airbus really need to pull their act together soon - I can see them going bankrupt in the next few years if they carry on like this[n]

Hmm a slim chance of that happening they have to many existing orders on the other models for that to happen, some 2.5k odd.

In the past week they have had orders for 150 A320, 65 A319, 20 A350XWB and today Qantas have placed an order for 20 more A380's.

They'll be lucky if all 65 a319's actually get delievered to Skybus. If it didn't work with Indy(sorry Ben) then i doubt it will work for Skybus, espically when there will be more competition from Virgin America

All the compensation/delays etc. aren't going to help their balance sheet though. I must admit, however, that I was being slightly over exaggerative (is that a word?; well it is now;)) before - I certainly hope that they don't.[:0]

Does anybody think Boeing will actually go ahead with their "super size" 747 ?

I agree and SkyBus is just silly. 150 on an A319? Not good.

150 A320 series order from China is part of a political deal. China wants the production line, and Airbus only will give it away if China can confirm big orders. So it is a typical exchange market with technology deal.

In fact, most of Chinese airlines don't like the deal (they don't like last year's 150 Boeing 737 deal either). But they've been told get on with it, and take their share. Even Shanghai Airlines, who is operating a full Boeing fleet (around 40 Boeing A/C plus 30 firm orders with Boeing), has to order 5 A320. You guess how complicate for them to run two technical support teams and how much costs been added on!

I won't be surprised if more big orders come from China, I bet it will again be 1:1 between Boeing and Airbus.
