What shall I do in Vegas

Sounds like a daft question, my partner and I have front row centre for Celine Dion ( but thats more his cup of tea than mine ), surfing on the net it turns out I miss Toni Braxton by one day ( I am an R&B Motown fan ), thought I might have a camp giggle at Barry Manilow but his show starts a week after I leave, missed Prince by a week also.

Tried to get some VIP passes for PURE at Caesars but it appears to be closed that week.

Any of you got any ideas for some other shows or glitzy things I can do 2nd Jan to 8th Jan. I don't gamble much and to be honest I find all the cirque stuff a bit samey and slightly dull.

Tips would be appreciated

Shopping is good. Have you seen Avenue Q? Grown up version of Sesame Street - the soundtrack is awesome, and the show apparently even better.

If you want to while away half a day I can strongly recommend the Spa at Bellagio. Relax in the spa area pools, use the heat rooms, chill out on the balcony overlooking the pool area and then have a fabulous massage or facial - or even both!

Down at the Mandalay there is quite a nice aquarium type place - think SeaLife Centre which we enjoyed.

Lots of shopping opportunities!

The coasters down on the Strat are scary as hell, the one at New York New York is good fun too.

Do you happen to know if the restaurant overlooking the Belagio
lagoon is a walk in or should I reserve a table from here.

I fancied something a bit glitzy and camp to watch ( though I think Celine is pretty camp,lol )

Can you recommend a good night club for us thats fun, I was quite looking forwards to seeing Pure, I think the clubs at the Luxor are having a refurb so they are out.

I know you miss Prince but you should check out this lot

Avenue Q is fantastic - currently playing in London. One of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Unwritten Law are playing at the House of Blues on Sat the 6th Jan > kind of pop / alternative band > check out the HOB website for details - saw one of my fav gigs ever there - Joe Strummer back in July 2002 (RIP Joe)

Some friends took in the Fasionistas show and said it was good when they were in Vegas back in the summer > Located at the Krave club by the Aladdin (which also doubles up as an alternative / gay nighclub apparently)

egg, just back from Vegas and saw Celine Dion. Was sceptical, but she puts on quite a show and it was awesome. She has an incredible voice and her lack of physical presence on stage was more than made up for by her dancers and stage special effects (and of course that voice).

If you want another show to go to, I would highly recommend the new Cirque "Love" at La Mirage. It was fantastic with the Beatles music and I want to go back and see it again. I think you would find this quite a different Cirque experience. Saw Mamma Mia and it paled into insignificance for me, compared to Love and Celine.

OT - Have you seen the "Bodies" exhibition at the Tropicana? You may see enough of that in your own business,;) but I found it both fascinating and in the case of the foetal exhibit, quite moving too.

I'd be interested to hear in some more detail about this. There's chuntering aplenty on some of the music lists I'm on about the "Fabs on 45" aspect of the album (sorry, CD), so I'm intrigued by how it fits with a Cirque experience...

The Sunday Champagne Breakfast at the Wynn's The Buffet is pretty tight. Also good on the other six days of the week (and cheaper). Only problem with the Wynn is I have never won a cent there.

We saw Barry at the Hilton a few weeks ago and have to say he was a bit of an anti-climax.Barely on stage for an hour.OK I know he's just had hip surgery (and by the youthful look on him another bit of facial tightening!) but when the tickets are the price they are I felt a bit robbed.Have a look in the free listing magazines when you arrive as there'll be bands/artists appearing at various venues for the days you're there.We bought tickets for Foreigner (on spec) who were playing one of the nights we were there and had a fantastic night.
If the restaurant you're referring to is Olives then reservations are pretty much essential as it gets very busy with non-residents who've come to ooh and aah at the fountains.Don't know where you're staying but they have no priority system for guests staying in the hotel which was one of the comments I made to management (you end up going outside the hotel to eat as you can't actually get a table in it!).Mr DL recommends the "Royal Shave " in Spa Bellagio (Spa facilities used to be only available to residents but this has recently changed and now on specified days they accept bookings from other MGM group guests).
For camp and glitzy what about Studio 54 at MGM?? (lengthy queues to get in though -mind you all the clubs seem to have queues even when half empty inside ).
When all else fails flex the cards and head off for some retail therapy (but be warned some of the stores in the Fashion Show Mall close at 8pm unlike stores in complexes linked to the hotels).Very jealous of you -can't wait to go back.

Paul, I'm going to sound like a real music pleb, but I was actually so rapped up in the spectacle that the remixed sound of some of the songs didn't even register with me. I don't want to give too much away because you had to be there, but the whole thing was very psychedelic. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" with one of the girls suspended high up on the trapeze with hundreds and hundreds of lights hanging down on strings and looking like a planetarium was just one of many spectacles. The music and visuals all went together really well.
