Hi all,

I've looked through previous posts, but cannot find the answer to this one...

I got a VS Mastercard around December/January last year (so approaching a year) and I converted this to the VS AmEx in July.

I know I have spent enough to earn the companion voucher and also the Premium upgrades, but called to check my card anniversary date.

MBNA told me that this is now July, not Dec/Jan as I expected.

Does anyone know if this is the def. the case? If so, it means that extra rewards cannot, in effect be earnt until 19months after I got the card... [V]

I look fowrard to hearing anyone elses experience of this.

Funny you should say that, Graham.

I have had a Companion flight voucher and an Econ > PE upgrade voucher appear on my Flying Club statement this morning. It was only August when I got my last Companion voucher. [?]

Pity they aren't transferable, as you could have mine with pleasure. [8D]:D

...and as if by magic "VAA Credit Card Companion Flight Qualification" has just shown up, it wasn't there an hour ago!

So I now need to work out how/when to use it, but most importantly when I will start earning towards my next one. Interestingly enough, that is showing up but there is no Econ > PE showing!! grrr

Would a call to VS Flying Club help do we think?

I saw this and checked my account and mine was there too, was not expecting it until Feb.

Looks like they have done a sweep of accounts and applied it early!

I've got mine too, but my card anniversary is July. I did hit the target this month though. [y]

Graham, I'm similar to you in that I originally got my Mastercard at end of last year, then switched to AMEX in June - however I was credited with my VAA Credit Card Companion Flight Qualification in August and my VAA Credit Card Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade in November. As always with MBNA we don't know what logic/criteria they apply - certainly looks like they've decided to do a "sweep" this week :)

Hello all,

My Virgin credit card annual (November 2005 - November 2006) spend was £16,500.
I transferred from the old Virgin mastercard to Virgin Atlantic AMEX white card in mid-July 2006.

A companion reward has just appeared on my Flying Club statement.

What was the Economy - PE upgrade offer ? Did I spend enough to earn one of those as well ?

thanks .... and a merry christmas to every one

Hi Paul, yes you are indeed entitled to a PE reward upgrade, the Virgin Atlantic website is clear on this. On the page for "the Virgin Atlantic White Card" it states >>>

Complimentary companion reward flight
If your card purchases equal or exceed £15,000 in a year, you will receive a complimentary companion reward flight the next time you book a qualifying flight with Virgin Atlantic.

Premium Economy reward upgrade
Spend £10,000 on card purchases by the end of any year and you will receive a Premium Economy reward upgrade the next time you redeem your Flying Club miles for a qualifying Economy redemption

As you'll have seen from other threads there appears to be no logic as to when MBNA apply these credits to our Flying Club accounts. In my case I had reached the spend threshold for both rewards but they only applied the companion reward initially.

It's all the more bizarre that you need more miles to earn the reward flight but this seems to be the one they offer up first...[:?]
