Wow this is a bit of surprise. Reading many recent posts on the speculation to where VS were flying to next I never saw anyone mention Kenya.
Although I stand to be corrected[ii]

Gosh! That one came out of the blue! I was hoping for Toronto or South America but Kenya didn't seem to be on the radar at all!

Well thats a shock! I think its good and its nice to have another African destination rather than another US one. I imagine it will be very popular with VH customers too!

Nairobi was on SRB's wishlist, I did feel it would be lower down the priority list looking at some of the other destinations though....:D

Suprised it's also starting as a daily service given it's more of a B+S route. Well done VS, keep these routes coming....[y]

No fares loaded yet - Premier seemed a little surprised! Great timing - we have some Mobasa accommodation to use up by the end of June!

Having watched "The constant gardener" last night, think I will give Kenya a miss.

Heard about this from crew - apparently the slot was not suitable for other plans. I wouldn't have thought there would be many unsuitable slots for going west though[:?]

I think the return of the A343's from Virgin Nigeria has made routes like this more attractive!!!

So are the VN 343's definitely coming back then? If so, are BUS and SUN being re-fitted with UCS before they resume service with VS? :D

I'm happy about this route. Just need to convince someone that we 'need' to go see the annual migration at the Masi Mara now :)

Thanks,
Sarah

It seems 343s are on the way back. Firstly Chicago, now Nairobi, all will use 343s. The signal is quite clear that 343s will return early/mid next year.

Please refit the cabin before they back! New UCS, new PE, new Y and V:Port in one go, please.

Well the article seems to suggest they will be in a new configuration...

NBO was on SRB's wish list, as has been every other destination announced in recent times AFAIK- so I guess not a major major surprise.

Not sure if it is really a true b+s route- sure safaris and all that. But remember Britain has strong links with Kenya- would imagine it will have a make up very much like the BA flight- so mixture of tourists and businessmen/natives returning home.

343s do seem to be returning back to VS after the VK lease- the question is what will VK be using. Rumours suggest a 763 or 330 (but from where?). Of course the VK long haul services havent exactly gone to plan.

767's apparently already sourced for VK!!

Apparently, there will be a wet-leased A330 from BMI and then two 767s.

I thought BMI were struggling themselves with one 330 grounded- last I heard was they were leasing themselves as they didnt have enough 330's....or have they droped all international routes now! ;)

I had heard 763's but was wondering from where.

Back to VS- it seems that with VK's 343's returning others are departing. Looks like G-VEAL has already gone- is in Zurich being converted for Air Plus Commet. This means that we are currently minus 3 343s until the two at VK return. Even then I cant believe that an extra capacity of one 343 is enough for ORD and NBO.

I was quite surprised at this one. It has been featured on Galley FM once or twice but I think many of us were really expecting Toronto before Kenya.

Maybe if the Nairobi Tourist Board played a part in this new route then possibly the Mexican Government will also be successful in getting VS, who knows?

I'm stumped over the whole A340-3 thing also and can't see how we can announce any more routes for quite a while but rumour has it that spring may reveal one more.

Oh well, we'll seeÉ

I thought it was the Masai Mara, unless we're off to see someone/something else..... [:p]

Sure we will be visiting NBO in the next few years. But wonder which will be better, this or a trip to Ulusaba?

Thanks,
Richard

NBO seems to be getting a 744 for most of Sept and early Oct according to VA.com. Anything before or after this is served by the A343 as far as I can see.

Sept could be when the A343's are off for a PE re-fit possibly...:D
