OK,
Mrs. Stoneman and I are traveling with Maxjet in Feb. As I understand it, they have all American FA's. Is it the custom to tip these as you would in most other circumstances when dealing with anyone in the service industry, or would it be rude, as they will tell you that they are safety personnel, and not trolly dollies

As this relates specifically to MaxJet, I'll move it to the "Other Airlines" forum to ensure others looking for similar information can find it easily.

I wouldn't have thought so. Well, I have never seen that on any airline, no matter what its nationality.

Another no vote, though I do tend to pass out my business card with a come say hi remark.

The US might seem to be tip crazy, but in the case of US aircrews, don't do it with cash! Tips of money - any country's money - are usually unwanted on US airlines, since most carriers don't allow them, and the crew(s) in question will get into trouble if they do take them.

That said, it's always been acceptable to gift someone who's gone above and beyond for you, as long as it's an unsolicited gift and has no cash involved. Items like pens, stickpins with airline-centered logos or planes on them (think Boeing or Airbus, even biplanes, that sort of thing), or alarm clocks with short timers (those in-flight naps!) are always welcome. Other things like these with practical uses which would fill a need a busy flight crewperson would have have always been warmly appreciated when I've seen them handed out.

Groundside or airside staff always like food... muffins or donuts, you get the idea. Just don't use cash! Unless you're paying for a service or ticket, cash should never come into the picture.
