Taken from A'Net.

It seems that Miami customs and immigration officers decided to lock up
Prince Carl-Philip of Sweden when he showed up at the airport because they did not believe he was who his passport said he was.

Of course he has a diplomatic passport, but what the hell, he can spend the night in jail..

Please let this be a reminder to us all, if someone on a diplomatic passport can get a night in jail, we can get 10 years at Gitmo for having an old picture in our passport.

No suprise that its Miami - I would avoid that airport at all costs on any International flight( its not so much the airport that's bad but the dickhead Immigration Officers - last time I entered there they even wanted to keep all of my I-94 DER!!)

Miami is used as a training airport for new officers, I wonder if this had anything to do with it, looking at the posts on A'Net now it appears the story is changing somewhat.

link to the story in English.

It is now coming out that he arrived in the US without his work visa and having traveled from Venezuela, a country the US government is not on good terms with im sure no I 94's were handy.

In light of this I guess my thread title rather than being sarcastic can now be taken as a [y] to the Immigration guys being careful and a
[y][y] to the Prince for not blowing his top and taking it all in stride, though I am sure that someone did get a tounge lashing over it just to keep the State Dept. happy.
