Logitech Webcams - Internal microphone

Has anyone come across a problem with terrible feedback noise when two people are using the same logitech camera with built in microphones over Skype or MSN?


When one camera is used without the internal microphone the sound quality is perfect, but as soon as two people switch to the internal mic, feed back starts.
I've tried all sorts of settings and updated drivers, but to no avail. The problem is heavily discussed on the Skype forum, but with no real solution, and logitech doesn't even acknowledge it as a problem.

Any ideas?

I know this is probably a silly question, but have you tried moving the location of your webcam? It may simply be the proximity of the inbuilt mic and the speakers.

You know... the silly questions are sometimes the ones with the "right" answer.
I should try it with headphones and see what happens, as I've not tried that yet.

But like I say, it works perfectly well when making calls to other models of camera and to phones.

I reckon it is a problem with the camera's inbuilt mics being very sensative, and when used with another one with a sensative mic it sets up the feedback loop.
I have turned down all the volume and sensitivity levels, but it still happens... perhaps the next step is to put some sticky tape over the mic grill to reduce its sensitivity some more.

The annoying thing is that this seems to have affected a lot of people on Skype, but neither Skype nor Logitech acknowledge it as a problem.

I have the Microsoft Lifecam which has a built in microphone (and is probably a logitech cam in disguise) and this is sensitive enough to pick up noise from my laptop screen which sound like a rustling crisp packet. It also gives me some feedback when screen mounted which stops when I move it away.
