But yesterday I put a new amp in the car to power my sub, I just wanted (in Ben speak) to pimp out the company, for the price this thing kick major butt, but you do need a sub that can handle the power.

Oh that really takes me back to the early 90`s when i was in my prime - 15 actually. I used to hang around with some lads who were well into their cars (modifications,Janspeed Exhaust, sub woofers, max power magazine!)

My then boyfriend had a beautiful vauxhall nova 5 door with all the latest gadgets & even replaced the original engine with an Noxa sxi!

He then sold the car and got an Astra GTE in burgundy which i loved.

Oh they were the days hanging around car parks watching the guys rev the crap out of their custom made cars......

I was just excited to have a CD player in my car for the first time a few weeks back! Its very cool - you can plug in a USB memory stick full of MP3's to play. Or if I buy the right bit your iPod. :o)

Literally stripped all of mine out of my car last month. This is the first time since i started driving that i dont have subs, amps and some kick-ass head unit in my car, though I am finally old enough to start letting the inbuilt Audi stuff do its job properly.

Was a huge fan of Rockford Fosgate stuff, gone from 2x10" Subs with bridged amps running front, mids and rears to a more sensible fronts and rears with 1x12" sub, all from Sony's Kicker range. Now i just have the Audi stereo - and find myself listening to Radio 2 most days. Terry Wogan is hilarious!

Thanks,
Sarah

Dave, exactly how old are you again? That is just sad. Have you got the sticker for the windscreen that has 'Dave and Jenn' yet? As we all know that sticker alone will add at least 100BHP.

Maybe you could 'cruise' on over to here to get some more modfication inspiration: http://www.barryboys.co.uk/mx/

Just buy a proper car and it will have a good audio system by default. I have the standard Audi system in my car and the sound is beautiful and clear - only thing I had changed was I had the Symphony II 6-CD in dash changer installed.

Thanks,
Richard

Guy's, I hate to tell you this..Rockford fosgate is crap, the Audi system is ok, but lacks a punch and there is noway it hit's that hard.

I don't go for noise (though it did hit a 156db) it's quality every time with me.

I'm with Sarah on this one.

My new car came with a Mark Levinson 14 speaker, 5.1 surround sound system, and it's just fine. I'm beginning to see a trend though - years ago I built my own PCs and assembled my hi-fi (in car and home) from lots of seperates. Now I just want things to work well straight out of the box.

Sarah, I'm sure Terry would be delighted to know you're turning into a TOG;)

Regards
Pat

I have the uprated Alpine system in the XKR and I must say for a factory fitted system it works really well, excellent high and mid range and enough base to get arrested for (not that I use all of that). ;) Like Pat, I too just want it to work straight out of the box. [y]

Sarah a TOG, I like that! [:p]

Well, I use a Mac ... nuff said :)

Yup, im a TOG in the mornings on the way to the office, and i listen to Chris Evans and the Fox on the way home. The speakers in my Audi barely get the dust blown out of them with Terry's dulcet tones :)

Thanks,
Sarah

Am I getting old or does all this sound a bit well odd.

I want a state of the art system in my house being that I don't live in my car and try to concentrate on driving, not likely to be "burning rubber" in the local supermarket carpark either, lol.

I am happy with my little Beemer and its cd player.
