I am hoping someone can help me with my upcoming interview with Virgin Atlantic on 27th Feb.

This is really a dream job for me and i have been lucky enough to even get to the interview stage.I had been in travel for 10 years and have pretty much done everything except cabin crew.I was going to keep it a secret but wanted to share with you guys as i am so excited and of course hopefully working for Virgin Atlantic![y]

So if anyone has been on one of these "assessment days" any tips or suggestions would be grateful.

Thanks![:X]

I've not been on one of these days either, but from what I've seen of these types of events, they like to see how you work with others, people who take charge without being bossy, how you handle different situations, how people react to you, can you take initiative, take orders from others, work on your own, etc.

good luck with it all!

I'm sure some of the VS cabin crew will be able to give you some first hand tips, but from what I've read about those assesment days, they're looking for confident personalities, and smiling a lot helps! Try to keep upbeat and happy all day without plastering on a false smile ;)

Showing a great deal of interest in the airline will probably be a plus point (think you may have that already covered!), and bear in mind that they'll be paying attention as much to how you approach a task as to your results. In the air you'll have to show you can deal with difficult situations (and passengers), whilst keeping your cool. Customer Service is a core part of their business, so they'll be looking out for recruits who can get on well with people, and you'll be able to demonstrate that by actively engaging others in conversation who are also there for an interview.

Greatest luck to you. From what I've seen, a lot of the training is about safety so I should think that you couldn't underestimate the importance of recognizing this, whether in the event of emergency, or as people say when dealing with difficult situations. As to dealing with passengers, well there's all of us so you might have some familiarity with what we like. Just don't mention the amenity packs!

The one thing that always comes up on cabincrew.com when the question is asked there is just be yourself.

As already mentioned, your are one step ahead of most with the wealth of info we all get from V-Flyer along with your previous experience working in the travel industry.

Good luck Ger [y]

Good luck Ger!

(Hope she gets the job! Hmmm, social idea. Ask VS to have a flight with VF crew members as part of a haircut run)

Good luck Ger, Your doing what i will be doing in a few years, Best of luck.
If you really want a head start at the interview then look at http://www.readytofly.co.uk
The book that sonia has written is really good and would give you an advantage at the interview.
Try to remember facts about virgin like destinations e.t.c
Other than that cabincrew.com is a really good site and has helped me!

Good luck

Hey Guys & Gals,

I really need help!

I`m unsure what to wear for my interview next Tuesday so need advise:

Should i wear either the following:

1.Red suit / white shirt / black shoes
2.Black suit / red shirt / black shoes

I know this question seems strange but i want to make an impression and i have been told if i wear my red suit it would seem to be too cheesy as VS uniform is red!!

Help[:?]

Hi Ger,

I'd go for the black suit. The red suit might be overkill, if you know what I mean.

Good luck! [y]

Oh great another headache....

Fell over on Saturday and now sporting a black eye[B)]

AND

Have had a sore throat for past few days and had it confirmed by dr today that it is Tonsillitis![n]

Unfortunately i get it every year but was hoping it was just sore throat syndrome.

Luckily have been given my normal anitbiotics so hope it clears before next Tuesday!

I think i am not meant to go to this interview on Tuesday[:#]

Of course you are - and you will do great!! If want something bad enough and put in the effort to get it then you usually succeed [y]

And I agree - black is always the colour of choice for a business meeting!
