Hi - A quick question to which I think I know the answer, but any prev experience/comments from people appreciated!
I am taking my little godson (2 and a half so thought his parents should come as well!) over to Disneyworld in a couple of weeks.

I got them Economy Miles/money tickets (I am selfishly at the front) - does anyone know what the deal on last minute upgrades with points to Premium might be?? Told I can't do it ahead of time due to the miles/money booking class.

many thanks

Have tried this myself, and found the miles/money tickets to be even more inflexible than Virgin Holidays consolidated tickets at the airport. I couldn't even offer them hard cash in JFK a few years ago, as they said there's no way the system would let them make changes.

If it were possible, you would have to pay the difference in cash to make your ticket flexible and then use your miles. Would have probablly been cheaper to have purchased a non-flexible PE fare.

You could be lucky on the day if the flight is not full - They will discount seats on the day if there is availability - on the day

I've tried this before when there has been availability, if the ticket is of the non-flexible type you will have almost zero chance.

OK - thanks everyone - guessed it was probably so - the miles/money discount is not >that< special so I guess I've learned a lesson here.

Guess I have to get the little fella practicing his "hello lady can I have an upgrade to be with my Uncle?" smile :D and see how that goes!

thanks for the responses
