At check-in. You will be met at the security point by an additional member of staff in an APD polo shirt who will check, and then you can pay at the actual counter.

Thanks,
Richard

Excellant, thanks. I spoke to the premier team this afternoon and they were not sure how it worked.

If you are in Y but using Upper or PE check in, don't bother to pay APD in advance. They won't ask for it!

I paid APD last week for my mum's reward ticket which I booked in Feb 2006. When we checked in at Upper (by using my Gold), they simply checked the names against a list for two seconds. Both of our names are not on the list, so the girl just wrote "CO" on the eticket. After we checked in, I asked the lady behind the counter when will they like to see the receipt for APD, they all shocked.

I guess they don't really know who should pay APD, and their list is not that accurate. So if you hate to pay APD, don't bother to pay in advance. They probably won't ask you at all!

I flew today and indeed my name was checked against a list and I was not asked to pay. I need to double check if I paid the APD when I booked.

Does anyone recall from what date the bookings included the APD?

I also now realise I did not get given a discount voucher, I completely forgot when I was checking in.

I wasn't asked for my paypal receipt, or whether I had paid or not and so forgot to ask for my voucher.

I doubt the records are accurate and have emailed to ask for my voucher to be mailed - no response as yet.

The date was December 13th, I think. Either that or December 12th

I have today received a voucher for VA in the post for the APD.

I haven't actually read the letter and don't know the exact wording but they also compensated me with 5K miles as check in was chaos the day I flew out.

Is this still happening?

and are they still giving out the vouchers to passengers who have prepaid the extra duty?.

No extra APD polo shirt clad staff checking anyone.
I paid at the ticket desk in the corner next to the UC desks last week after checking-in,no voucher but I didn't prepay.

We used the chauffeur service on the 23rd. May at Heathrow. I had not paid the APD in advance, this was a reward upgrade to upper, no-one asked for it, so we boarded our flight to SFO £80 better off.[y]
Edit. forgot to mention that we did on-line checkin and printed our boarding passes before hand.

I prepaid my APD and the check-in agent didn't know much about it until I asked about my voucher. She didn't know about the voucher either and directed me to the ticket desk. I didn't queue at the ticket desk and have since sent an email to Virgin regarding my voucher which I am still awaiting for a reply.

A little OT, but am I correct in assuming that if you've recently bought your tickets you've already paid the APD? We bought ours last month...

Correct.

And as a side note, VEGA (the bookign system VS use inhouse) has been updated to automatically calculate the additional APD that is required if you use miles to upgrade from Economy to PE or UC.

Thanks,
Richard
