Central London Hotel - Birthday Treat

Hi Guys,

I'm planning a birthday treat for the good lady wife's 30th next month which will include an overnight in central London.

Can anyone suggest somewhere special or different?

I wouldn't say that money is no object, buy hey, she's only 30 once!

Ha! Try to tell her that when she starts arguing that 50 is the new 30!

As to hotels, my brain is a little befuddled on the subject. (G&T, doncha know!)

My money would be on the Savoy - I went there for my 50th and it really was something special. Coupled with Saturday night at the theatre and Sunday lunch at the Savoy Grill, it was a truly memeorable weekend.

Better get in quick though, i have heard it will be closing in November for a major refurbishment

That's an excellent suggestion and one I would 100% concur with.

Alternatives include one of the original deco suites at Claridges followed by Gordon Ramsey, or perhaps the Meissel Suite at the Dorchester? I also find One Aldwych excellent ...

As for the Savoy, they're closing soon for a major refurb and it needs it. I think I'd wait until they reopen.

Don't be tempted by the 4 seasons on Hamilton place, our last stay was bad beyond belief,thinking about it so was our last stay at the Savoy.Always fancied a stay in the Oliver Messel suite but I have never had pockets that deep(or Sly had it already booked):D.

Thanks for all the ideas guys....when you say "Park Suite", do you mean any of the suites over looking Hyde Park, or is there a particular suite called the Park Suite? Couldn't tell by their web site.

Looks an amazing place - I'd imagine the spa would be something special as well.

Its not the best MO spa (the sauna could do with being a bit wamer), but as far as Spa's in London go I think its the best and very good looking. Whereever you book, have a great weekend!

You will not go far wrong with the Ritz link or the Lanesborough link

I have stayed at the Lanesborough and it was amazing.

The new hilton by London bridge is meant to be beautiful! Close to waterloo, and, lets face it, a view over the thames should be great

I walk past said Hotel every day and whilst it is new and has all the hallmarks of being a nice place, views of the Thames from rooms is not one thing it can boast.
