Thanks for the tip!

I called on Tuesday night - it took about an hour to get through but as it was an 0800 number I persisted.

They've upgraded my service to the VIP package including:

A V+ box in our lounge
Free installation of our current Cable TV box in the main bedroom.
Upgrade of internet service from 2MB to 10 MB
Talk international and Talk Mobile plans added to the phone service

Total saving £3.99 per month! Result:D

Well, I've takent the plunge and upgraded my Telephone M + Broadband XL service to a full VIP package, and they waived the £25 installation fee. Cancelling my Sky + Tivo services means I'll be saving about £15 a month with Virgin aswell as getting more premium channels for free.

Only took 5 mins to get through, and the chap also confirmed the upgrade to 20MB Broadband will be in May. He didn't mention any price increase as part of the bundle.

My parents have been stuck onto Virgin Media since takeover or whatver from ntl. They have had nothing but problems with the whole shabang.Channels going dead, programmes stopping halfway through, etc, etc.

Often the channels go down, then mum calls the call centre in India who tell her it could be to do with the points at the back of the tv? eh? (er Brand new TV Mr call centre man)

Not the fact it has to do with Virgin Media themselves.

I am trying to get them back to Sky to be honest so i can get £35 quid and so can the folks.

Its OK if you live in the cities, but loads of us do not and the option of Virgin media is not available to us nor ever will be.
We are stuck with SKY like it or not, untill proper broadband is ever avaiable (6MB is my maximum ATM) to have it piped in that way

VS seem to be happy to be taking Sky's money - they continue to show their adverts on the movie channels on my last VS flight.

To be fair, VS and Virgin Media are two very separate companies.

Ofcom are now looking into this, along with the whole PayTV market in the UK.

Not sure what good it will do though [:w]

Spoke to Virgin Media today.

Got £5 per month knocked off the bill and got Sky Movies added at no extra charge(also offered Sky Sports, but since we won't ever watch it, I thought it was fair to tell her not to bother )

I suggest that if you are a VM customer you ring and see what you can get.

Free Phone number is: 0800 052 9403

Be prepared to wait!
