Have run a few searches on CDC's but haven't found an answer to this particular question, hope someone here can help :)

Steve & I are planning a long weekend in Provincetown in Aug/Sep and have accumulated enough miles to pay for UC rewards. G availability is OK on the dates we're looking at. We'll do what we normally do and shed out 20K miles for two x CDC transfers here in UK. Normally we only use the CDC between home and LHR but as VS offer to take you to any address in MA, CT or RI from BOS under the rules of the CDC, spending 20K miles to get ourselves from BOS to Provincetown and back sounds great value. Sorry to ramble...and so to the question....can our friend who will be flying up to BOS from DFW hop into our CDC and get a ride to Provincetown and back with us?

Thanks
James

I think the miles level for CDC reward has changed.... new T&C's

Miles needed for a chauffeur driven car:

To/From (One Way) From/To (One Way) Miles
London Heathrow or Gatwick London and Home Counties* 12,500
Manchester Airport Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Wirral, Liverpool, Lancashire 12,500
USA Airports Please check when booking 12,500
South Africa Please check when booking 12,500
* Essex, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Middlesex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Passengers using Drive Thru Check In and travelling to the US, Shanghai, Johannesburg or Cape Town, must provide Advance Passenger Information (API) either at time of booking or through 'Manage Your Flights'.

So how exactly does drive through check in work? Do you get out of the car at kerbside check in or does the driver do all that? Is it just the formalities (did you pack your own case etc) or is luggage dropped off there as well and you're straight onto the clubhouse????

You stay in the car and hand your docs to someone through the window. You're asked the security questions through the window. The baggage is removed and you are driven to the drop off point to be reunited with your luggage at the other end of the trip.

Thanks Juliet, was unaware that VS had increased the miles spend for CDC's, just glad we secured the CDC's for our upcoming trip at the old rate of 10K [y] IMHO even at 12.5K it represents a good deal, especially where sizeable distances are involved - such as BOS all the way to the end of Cape Cod!
