Am sure this must have been answered before, but I can't find it - sorry! How long, after a 'friend' has taken their first flight, should I expect to wait until my recommendation miles appear in my account? Her return flight was 12 days ago.....

You should really have the miles now. I have had MMF miles enter my account within hours of their return flights. Has your friend received her miles yet? If not you need to make sure your friend had her FC number linked to her booking otherwise neither of you will get your miles (if she hadn't she will just have to complete the missing miles form on the VS site).

Just call them, I had the same recently and they sorted it in less than 5 mins.

Call them - along with her membership number? Do I also need her flight date and number?

Not sure if you need those, but I would have them ready.

Was it a miles qualifying flight?

I recently recommended a friend who went on a cheapie and the miles turned up in my account the very next day

remember you might get DPA questions re: the recommendation, so have your friend available (or near a phone) to be sure they sort your miles for you (and her bonus miles too!)

I am pretty sure, but do of course stand to be corrected, that all paid for tickets now earn MMF miles, this was changed a couple or so months back.

as long as it was not a MPM fare (or a reward... which with current taxes to be paid can sometimes FEEL like a paid ticket!)[xx(]

Would have thought so - she was on a VH flight.

I checked with my friend and she hasn't had the miles credited to her (brand new) account either. She went online to her account and input the flight number and time - but as she booked with VH, the site didn't accept the reference number she had (from VH!) in the booking ref field.

I've now emailed FC on her behalf, quoting names, membership numbers, flight numbers and dates, along with the VH reference number, and along with the fact that I should be receiving airmiles too - but is this likely to work? I don't see anything else I can do to get it linked up.

Claire,

Does she still have her ticket stubs?

The VS locator will be on and will be quicker for Virgin Atlantic to retrieve her booking and add miles quicker.

Not that I'm aware of, sadly. But VS should be able to link the booking then? Somehow, I'm not holding my breath here....
