On my VS e-ticket is says that there is now VS checkin at 8 LV hotels.
It doesn't mention which hotels, and I cannot find this info on the VS web site.
Anyone know if this is true and if so which hotels ?
We found this very handy when we used 'checkin and chill out' in our Barbados hotel.

That's a new one on me. Like you say, there is nothing on the VS website or the VH website. [?]

There is supposed to be one at The Luxor, saw a photo copied sign stuck to the far end of the counter, didn't see anyone there all the week I stayed though.

Same here for 8 days but not sure if that's just for the hotel itself. [:?]

Or it could be a scam to get customers to hand over their luggage [:0].
Speaking of which, did anyone see the Airport programme on BBC1 last night... scary what people will do to steal your luggage.
Although one luggage thief ended up with someones bible, having mistaken it for bag full of cash [:p]

I think they used to offer this service pre 9/11, and if memory serves we used it from the Luxor that summer.

Oh yes and I found it slightly worrying that people who'd been security cleared were involved in ... How shall I put this [:?] Aquiring items from luggage [n]

There was a service that offered this for a fee pre 9/11...no idea about now..let me start digging.

edit:

Ok the company is called

Certified Airline Passenger Services

They operated for about two years working with 13 strip hotels, they closed up in 2003 due to the high costs of the FAA requirements post 9/11

Other than that I can find nothing [:#]

Thanks all, no big deal I guess. Just intrigued by the eticket wording.
Now that I have bagged us PE seats I am not so concerned about checking in early.

What's the airport like, are there decent shops and restaurants?
Or is it like the terminal VS use at LAX [:(!]

I don't remember what it's like before security but like many US airports it's best described as "functional" airside. I recall a small newsagent / book stand, a bar / food joint and a rank of slot machines.

When I was there over New Year, the duty free shop was being renovated and there were two large "stands" instead where you could buy some items.

All in, it's probably the most sparse airside I've ever seen. The slots are also believed to be the tightest in Vegas, so I'd suggest staying in your hotel as long as possible unless you have access to the lounge (Au/UC).

WORSE much much worse!!

There are 2 newsagents, the newly refurbed yet tiny duty free shop, burger king, mini pizza hut, and some kinda bar (I have never been in there), oh and a PAG tour shop.

There are a few slots and video poker machines, but nothing much.

I tend to go and sit at gate 5/6 away from Virgins gate 3. It is more peaceful down there and if you need to plug your laptop in, ther are plenty of available places.

McCarren does have free wifi, so that helps.

The worst air side I have been at, unless you count Paphos!!!
If you have a car, check in at about 10am, spend the rest of the day chillin, then get to the airport about 45 minutes before departure
