Heathrow Hotel?

Booking a room for one night and have not stayed at Heathrow before. Does anybody have any suggestions where to stay and which one is nearest T3.

Depends what you want. I prefer the Renaissance especially if you like a view of the runway. The rooms are very quiet with good soundproofing.

As it's for one night, all the hotels are very samey anyway with resturants pretty comparable, same with prices if you shop around.

Thanks Darren - I was looking at the Hilton but not sure how far it is as its attached to T4.

There are a lot of good 4* hotels that are all very similar,I use Holiday Extra's to search what is available for dates required and to see what is the best offer on at the time, they have various options including parking inclusive packages.

Also, on this page about half way down there is a map that shows you were each hotel is in relation to the airport.

Stayed at most of the hotels on the A4 around Heathrow at one time or another. None are particularly great....

Do like the Renaissance though as you can get a room overlooking the runway. Hoppa bus calls right outside (as it does for all the others as well). Prices can range from very high to stupidly low depending on the day you check in - We stayed there the night before our last California trip and paid £79 for one double room and got a connecting double room for the kids free [y]

Sheraton Skyline is OK, as is the new(ish) Marriot.

We will be arriving from Dublin at about 21.00pm so all we will want to do is have a few beers and a bite to eat. Our flight next day is at 1430 so we have plenty of time to get up and get to the Clubhouse in T3.

All the hotels are linked to the terminals by the Heathrow Hoppa bus service, so if you buy a return then you will be able to get back to the terminal in the morning, about £10 return now IIRC

I'm currently looking for an hotel at LHR but am bidding on Priceline. I use the US site as it's easier for me to use a friend's zip code (or even make one up [:w]) than to use a post code. According to this website prices can be as low as $65 for a 4* room but I haven't been lucky so far even going up to $70. I have had a counter-offer of $101 which over the last two attempts has increased to $103 as the dollar weakens. It is still a good offer but I am holding out on that for the time being as I still have two months to go.

Like porsche, I shall be arriving from Ireland quite late at 9:30 and I'll be leaving on the VS19 so it will just be a place to lay my head - after a nice G&T or three of course!

Honey , I have not seen that site before - As I am going the 8th May I think I will just go ahead and go with the direct on line reservation with the Renaissance - Thanks for your reply - K

Stayed at the Renaissance and can I be very honest - I though it was a dirty kip. We refused to eat in the place and walked up the the Sheraton - Over priced and a complete dump - When you arrive into the main receptio area all you can get is a very strong smell of smoke - needs a major face lift or even better - Emplosion - all in all = [:$]

Personally never had a problem with it - all I need is a comfy bed and a shower - and it meets those needs!

we always use the Renaissance when we travel always found it ok, ask for a room with the runway view as these seem slightly better rooms, keep away from crew area as they are always coming and going.and technicaly it is the nearest hotel to T3 with the Park Inn a close second. we are off to mexico via mia with vh and one night stay with 15 days parking £82 cheaper than long term and no rush. be aware T3 is a complete mess and will be until Nov i think due to beautification work.

I only stayed at the Renaissance once and my experience was similar. The room stank of stale cigar smoke,so much so we ended up playing hunt the old cigar nub under the bed.We always stay at the Radisson Edwardian for T1/T3 and the Hilton for T4.

Crowne Plaza is a decent hotel, with shuttle etc

There's the Novotel, Ibis, Comfort Inn, Premier Inn for lower priced hotels.

To be honest the Sheraton is within walking distance and the price is not much more - I fancied a change and got a bad one - never again
