BBC is reporting news of a
bird strike forcing an aircraft to declare an emergency and return to the airport. Presumably this is well within training and procedures. Has anyone here ever been on an aircraft that has experienced this ?

The report says two herons got sucked into one of the Boeing 757's engines. I had a heron land on my shed roof once. They are not small birds[:0]

I wonder if they had time to do the fuel dump over the sea, or if it was over houses or something.

What you mean they never got round to naming the stand the Bell end? Damn them. Like the parents forewarning their kids not to play on the Main(e) road.

Wonder if Thomson is insured for this, as that amount of fuel can't be cheap....

Thanks,
Richard

Bird Strike on Aircraft Out Of Manchester?

That's a shame. Until now I had always thought that Mancunian women were such reliable workers. [B)]

Nasty little bill on the way for Thomson, A replacement engine can't come cheap either.
