Just spent 3 nights in the above hotel and I have to say its brilliant. The service is second to none. I was in a standard room which I will be honest was ok , not exactly the Grande Hyatt but perfect for what I needed. The restaurants in the hotel are very good but its the location that makes this hotel I feel one of the best in Shanghai. Its walking distance from all the best shops , the nightlife is also based in this area. My next visit to Shanghai will be there without doubt but I will probably stay in a club room as they have just been all done up.

Grand Hyatt's my favourite there TBH - I've never known anyone have a bad review of the place.

The Grande Hyatt is nicer and newer but its in Pu Dong and away from all the action - The bar is also boring compared to the Ritz Carlton = I have not stayed in the Ritz / Hyatt and the Shangri La and the Ritz is by far the better location - well thats my opinion and of the other people who travelled with me but eact to their own.

Hmm. I kind of like the 87th floor view from Cloud 9 in the Hyatt. I wouldn't consider the view across the river boring ;)

no you are right and I stayed there before but where the Ritz is there is so much more "craic". The Hyatt is beautiful but its basically surronded by offices. Yes Cloud 9 as is my favorite the "grill" but within 3 mins walk from the Ritz you have Tongren Lu , Malones , + many more. I would say do the business in Pu Dong but to party afterwards , the Ritz is better.
