Well, sort of OT...

Has anyone travelling out of Paddington noticed the billboard in the Eurostar depot at North Pole/Old Oak Common in the last few weeks?

It's the one you see if you look out from the HEx on your way to LHR from Paddington

It used to have an advert for Eurostar on it, but it's now got this instead:

;)

For those of you who think this is real, don't panic. It's all part of a clever ad campaign by three British environmental groups to encourage us to fly less.

I originally thought it might have been a new Eurostar "tease" campaign. I'm assuming Eurostar donated the ad space, as it promotes less flying.

Made me laugh nonetheless, but it didn't stop me getting on an MD80 and going to Scandinavia.

Fabulous! And i'm sure any similarity to Dubya is co-incidental.

And OT to the OT: Why do they call that North Pole?

IIRC there is a pub in Acton called the North Pole which has given its name to the area. When I worked in that area of London it amused me seeing buses with their destination as "The North Pole"

I'm not sure it's that clever. The way I read it,it is encouraging me to vote Labour to ensure i continue to get cheap flights around the world, and quite possibly, as a by-product, warmer weather in the UK.

Love it!

And OT to the OT: Why do they call that North Pole? I've always wondered that going past those yards. The stack of cab shells for the trainsets are really cool...

Not sure where the name for North Pole came from but it's always nice to see the cab shells still there - it means my Eurostar colleagues ain't "bent" anything!!

That is a fab website! For sheer piss-take though, they should have put a Bono lookalike on there; wish that man would stop babbling on and concentrate on music - not that he and his chums recently moved their publishing org to another country for tax efficeincy.....

Thanks,
Richard
