Here is my TR for our 6 night stay at The Venetian in LAS.
Apologies, but its quite long

Our taxi from the airport took about 20 mins (we didn't specify but he didn't take us through the tunnel !). Taxi was $15.
We arrived at a very busy Venetian hotel and were directed to the much quieter check-in on the 10th floor of the Venezia tower. We were checked in quickly and asked about rooms with views, which were an extra $45 a night. We decided that as it was our first trip to LAS that we would do this so a few moments later we were given our key cards to suite 6-416.
Our suite was huge and we had a great view of the strip, the Mirage (and volcano), TI and the mountains beyond.

We were really glad we chose The Venetian in the end as the dining options seemed much better than Bellagio. Location seemed just as good.

We explored the hotel and were gobsmacked by its size and the amazing detail that has gone into the place. You truly feel like you are outside when wandering down the grand canal and St Marks square. The hotel has plenty of dining options for all budgets. We had breakfast in the Grand Lux a couple of times, the buffet was very good.
We also tried the Riva Poolside breakfast which was great too, and nice to sit outside in the morning sun before it got too hot.

We had dinner at Wolfgang Pucks 'Postrio' in St. Marks Square. The food was delicious. We also tried some of the other eateries beside the casino. All had a good choice and big portions.

We spent 2 whole days exploring some of the other hotels down the strip, saw Dolphins and tigers at The Mirage, sharks at Mandalay and lions at the MGM. All recommended.

Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi was very good, but we didn't get a fountain view in the end as we didn't want to swelter on the outside terrace and the conservatory had a 30 min wait. The temp was about 35-40 degrees outside.
We took the trip up the Eiffel Tower and the views were amazing.

We managed to catch the Bellagio fountain show about 5 times, including night time.[^]I particularly enjoyed the performance with Elton Johns 'Our song'.
One of the evenings we took a taxi up to Fremont St, I was a little underwhelmed by the light show and the area itself but it was good to see some of the original neon signs, including the cowboy.

We ran out of time so didn't get to the Stratosphere, but hope we'll go back some time.

We took a helicopter trip with Maverick out to the Grand Canyon (booked with concierge at Venezia), via Hoover Dam that included a 1/2 hr stop with champers and food in the canyon. All I can say is WOW !! They were excellent and we would recommend them. Great commentary and a very dashing young pilot [:p] - don't tell Mr L2H !
We flew back at sunset over the strip, a view I will never forget.
In fact we have ordered the DVD of our trip !

We also hired a car for 2 days and drove to Hoover Dam (about 45 mins from LV). We did the tour which included the tunnels and generators which was really interesting.
We then drove on to the Valley of fire which was spectacular.

Shows - we saw Blue Man group (hilarious) and 'O' (amazing), I would highly recommend both.
We booked tickets for Blue Man when we arrived, we pre-booked 'O' as it gets fully booked up.

Shopping - the shops in the Venetian were good, we also liked Caesars forum. Whilst we had a car we went to a couple of outlets which also benefitted from lots of our dollars..... another handbag for my collection !!

I think that's all. I hope this helps.

I am glad you enjoyed yourself here...there is so much more to do the drink and gamble..note that please Paul...

Maverick do a great job, I have taken a couple of tours with them and they do a first rate job.

Postrio is rather good isn't it, the soups can be amazing.

The premium outlets seem to be a big fav of all tourists from the UK, with the exchange rate the prices are so low.

L2H

Thanks for posting the LV TR[y]

The Venetain has much to offer, but as you have pointed out, can b every busy at times.

you truly feel like you are outside when wandering down the grand canal and St Marks square.

I could not get over the atmosphere when dining in the St Marks Square - who ever dreams this stuff up??

I am sure you will be going back;)

LV was never really on my list either, although we would have included it in a West coast fly drive itinerary. But we are really glad we went, we are not into gambling and boozing so were concerned that it would not be our kind of place, and to be honest some aspects did make me cringe [ii].
BUT we really enjoyed it. I think the key is to do lots of different things, stay in a nice hotel, hire a car and make trips out of the city. Oh, and wear comfy shoes :)

Book it now !!![y]

Birkin and I have been going to Vegas since 1984, before some of you on this site were born. It has changed enormously during that time, but what place hasn't. Gone are (most of) the sleazy casinos and dingy hotels, instead what you now have is a kind of Disneyland for adults. We are not big gamblers but do enjoy a decent hotel and fine dining and you have both in abundance in the 2007 Vegas together with a magnificent architectural spectacular and a live entertainment schedule to die for.

Many people I meet run down Vegas and say they would never go. My advice is go there, just for a few nights, you will either love it or hate it. Us, well we fall into the former category and when we leave can't wait to go back again. Incidentally, these people who bad mouth Vegas have often not even been to the USA and frequently don't have a good word to say about the USA either - small minded folks mainly!

One thing I forgot to mention in the TR, we went to the 'Bodies' exhibition at the Tropicana.... weird, but strangely fascinating [:?]

Glad you had a good time T2H. Like Bazz says, Vegas is a marmite experience - you either love it or hate it (I sit in the love camp on both counts). Can't wait to go back.
