I should be able to prebook my seats today as its 11 months to our return date. I called V.H and they are saying that the details wont be released to VA until next week.. I tried explaining that im away for 2 weeks from Monday and really wanted to do it today as I have quite a few requests.. I have a cross booking for a start so need to book seats over the phone, I need a child travel seat request and special meal request. My request seemed to fall to death ears as i got a continued it will be released sometime next week call back then....Does anyone know how the system works and if it is a manual or automatic process when they pass the info between VH and VA and if there is anyway to make his happen today before I go away
The flight booking wont have been sent from V Hols to VS until 11 months before the date of travel so VS will not have any record of you yet.
I would guess it's done automatically so there's nothing you can do I'm afraid other than wait.

I booked a holiday which is within 11 months but have just been told by VH that I won't be able to prebook my seats until a months time! When I asked why I had to wait so long they just said "I don't really know". I guess all I can do is keep trying on-line as I really want to get the front 2 UC seats (LGW 744).
When i phoned VH about prebooking seats (this was in April about my holiday in January 08)they said i'd have to phone VA direct, i phoned VA as i couldnt access the "manage my flights" (this was due to the time of my flight being changed by half an hour?)They were able to fix the problem immediately, i also had to book my PE seats upstairs over the phone as the seat plan wouldn't let the 3 of us sit together upstairs 

The last VH booking I made was online with them and within 5 minutes of the booking being made the VS web site had it in "manage your flight"
I was also impressed when I changed the cabin class in February and the moment I pressed the radio button to confirm the change I went to the VS site and the change was already there.[y]
I guess the only way we will ever get any of this confirmed as to when and how etc will be if a lovely VH person comes along to tell us!![?]

Possibly going slightly off the general topic here but...
I have booked a hol through VH and would like to try and pre-assign my seats.
On checking the VS website it says you must have your tickets in order for it to then appear on the site....so the tickets have arrived today, however i am still not able to access my booking.
Intrestingly I then went to the manage booking part of the VH site and it said that my tickets had not been sent yet (but they are sat in front of me as i write this[:?])
Any suggestions on how to solve the prob.

I don't think by "issued" (the term used on the VS website) they mean "sent" (though you have yours now so that's academic anyhow) as like MarkJ I assigned seats for my trip in January 2008 5 minutes after making the booking at VH and don't expect to have the tickets in my hand until just before departure.
Have you tried using your VH, rather than VS, booking ref on the VS "Manage Your Booking" screen, the VH ref being of the form 999999/S99 (the "S" may be a "W" depending on the season) ?

Gave VH a call and they said that my VH Booking Reference would not work on the VS site and so they gave me a diffrent number and I have managed to assign my seats.
Just as a side question: I assigned two seats on the main deck as these were the only ones left, just wondering whether VH have any seats on the Upper Deck (PE) and if so whether I would be able to change the seats at Check-in.

VH don't have specifically assigned seats. However only a limited number is available for pre-assignment (I think about 60%) and the rest are blocked off till check-in opens. I would suggest you do on-line check-in (OLCI) as soon as it opens 24 hours before your flight and change your seats then
