When wolves27 posted this pic it reminded me of my stay in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in DC where I fell in love with the Aromatherapy Associates products there to the extent that I made sure I had a goodly supply on the way home [:I] [:w]. They are not available here in Ireland but I have managed to purchase them initially on a trip to Bath and subsequently via a website in the UK which is willing to ship over here.

I must say that I also like the Crabtree and Evelyn La Source products available in the Hilton hotels I have visited recently [y]

Aer John on the other hand, delighted in the Moulton Brown products from the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong and he too ensured that the memory would linger on. As part of his Christmas pressie I gave him a bottle of bath and shower wash and he expressed his delight saying he was about to run out of stocks. We had been there in July!!

So what are your favourite toiletries in hotels and have you, like us, continued to buy them afterwards?

My favourite has been the Hermes products at both the Hermitage and Hotel de Paris in Monaco.

Also Bulgari is rather nice at the Four Seasons New York on 57th.

Many other Four Seasons seem to do Occitane which I have to say has been the only ones I've ever bought and that wasn't for me.

Maybe actually buying the freebies is not a bloke thing. I'm too busy nicking them to have time to go out and buy them.

Or maybe you're on the road often enough to be able to nick them - not like us stay-at-homes who only get out once or twice a year

My faves:

* Nutrogena "every day" body lotion (forgot where, but the lotion is great)
* The C&E products that HL likes, at Hilton
* Body Shop, at Marriott hotels
* Aveda, onboard Crystal Cruises

Hair : Shampoo (any type)
Body : Shower gel (again, any type)
Hairy bit of body (only one area) : Shampoo OR shower gel, depending on mood at the time

You bloke you :)

Recently stayed at the Hotel Vitale in San Francisco where they had Fresh toiletries (http://www.fresh.com) - highly recommended by me especially the Lemon Sugar Bathcubes for soaking in that huge bath in the Vitale bedrooms and gazing over the bridge and ferry building.

Other than this the Taj hotels group do their own fine line of ayurvedic toiletries. However even in the Peninsula I take my own!

Six years ago we stayed at a hotel in Yountville, California, called The Villagio, where I first came across Aveda products. Since then, any trip to the States includes much time spent at the nearest Aveda store!

Generally though, I always bring my own toiletries but sometimes I am partial to the odd sewing kit or two:D

The Burj Al Arab also do full size Hermes products. Your butler makes the point that you can take them all home with you when you leave.

A certain group of un-named people have now also got me addicted to Aromatherapy Associates products, not to mention MO's [:I]

I think the best I have ever encountered was in the Savoy (stayed there for a special birthday treat) where they provide Floris

Hmm, I didn't realise Preiffer was bald.

Anyhow, My faves:

Molton Brown from the Flatotel in NYC. I now buy it all the time.
Shower gel from Mal Maison. They even have a sign telling you that you can take their oversized bottles home with you. I'll pick up another supply when in Manchester in a few weeks :D

I discovered Molton Brown's Suma Ginseng shower gel from Hilton and instantly loved it. Yes, I did go out and buy some more. At home my bathroom has lots of Molton Brown products which I have collected from various hotels - the ultra pure milk soap is quite nice. I also like their range of fine liquid handwashes.

I don't have any favourites, since I just seem to take whatever toiletries they leave in the bathroom as freebies. :D[:I]

Reason being is that they are very useful if stopping over at a family's house for a night or two or if I run out of the normal toiletries in the house.

They've got some Elemis stuff here in the Radisson MAN in addition to the regular things. Mrs JAT seems to think that's OK!

Any of the little soaps does it for me - they're always just right for my downstairs loo! But I think Molton Brown is top of my list.

That said, earlier in the year, we spent a weekend in the Cotwolds, where they had full size MB products in the bathroom - along with a note inviting you to enjoy the products, but mentioning that these were available to buy on the premises, or if you did 'happen' to take from the bathroom, they would conveniently charge them to your card!!!!!!!!!

And does anyone use those tastefully-packaged shower cap thingies????

If this thread had started at the beginning of the year I could have kept you well stocked with these products. Particularly the shampoo, for which I have little to no use.

ISTRC the toiletries from The Clarence in Dublin were so cool that they still lie untouched in their bag somewhere @ pjhtowers.

Sometimes though hotels try too hard to be fancy. We have suffered on a number of occasions when very tasteful ribbon bedecked locally grown soap presented in a tin is entirely used up the first time you wash your hands.

Amusingly the Hilton Nairobi ploughs its own furrow and has nondescript toiletries but cute little miniature "Imperial Leather" soaps... for some reason this has incredible kitsch value for me. Reminiscent of peach slices on cornflakes and hostess trollies.

Another vote for Aromatherapy Associates, though I quite like Cowshed and to a lesser degree MB.

Obviously its Aromatherapy Associates. I've only ever paid for them once, as an impulse purchase in the Landmark Spa.

I always find its much more cost effective to blow a fortune staying in an MO and getting the things for *free* [:w]

Malmaisons are nice too.

As far as I know they don't stock any hotels, but Nancy Boymake very nice toiletries.

Oh, and of course there's Gilchrest and Soames [}:)]

cheers!

My brother and I used them as parachutes to attach to our plastic army men when we were children...does that count?
