Hi folks,

I've noticed that the VS24 LAX-LHR from Saturday has diverted into Rapid City, South Dakota.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/VIR24

The main runway at Rapid City is 2.5km long, so this is why it was probably a reasonable diversion choice.

Wonder if anyone knows why? Medical?

Guess some of the pax from that plane are feeling a bit KRAP? (groan)

Cheers,
Mike

I have a question and it is not directed. Why do people feel divertision are news worthy? They seam to be half the topics over at airliners.net. Weather gets bad (only so much fuel onboard), people get ill, and planes break. All safety/health related and normally are uneventful. I can see how a flight over politically sensitive lands or areas without airports with proper services could be interesting but still should have preplanned divertisions.

Ben,
Just a guess, but probably has to do with people who already are fascinated by the whole air travel world being interested in the "inside story" of irregular ops.
