Interesting what you say about the keyboard. Work just moved from PDAs to Blackberry, so I tried the blackberry for a while. Took about 3 weeks before I threw it back at our IT manager because the keyboard was too small to use. Now back on my Imate Jam with touch screen and character recognition.

Apple say it's released then but all the networks will need to do testing to ensure compatability and identify bugs. If the bugs are big and affect use, the networks will not approve it. Therefore if you have issues you are on your own.
Umm... I'm pretty sure they've already been doing that, as they're launching with Cingular.

Cingular will have done their own testing. In the UK, Vodafone/O2/Orange/T-Mobile etc. etc. will do their own too. No network relies on the makers own testing. Many handsets are made, few are chosen by the networks due to signal issues, reliabilty or user experience.

I've been with Orange for 11 years. I've now decided that my loyalty hasn't been rewarding. I'll be needing 3G (unmetered) with possible bundled wifi access: T-Mobile!
Do you not find patchy reception with those networks? I have just moved to Orange, and certainly find it far from perfect (AKA some days I cannot get a signal in the house)

Just moved out to rural suffolk, and when I first moved here, couldn't get reception in the base of the house. No probs now.

Have no probs at all around suffolk, which is predomanently rural.

Ok, so a little late, but Maximumpc just did a great review of 12 smartphones, right now you have to buy the mag, but it should be up on their website soon.
