No I am using buy miles function. Entered all card details and press proceed. Then it failed. Tried 3 different cards from Visa, MC and Amex.

How many reward points off 1000 are you on your Amex card? If just a couple of hundered, make a payment using amex on your paypal to a friends paypal account then transfer miles earned from amex to Virgin. Friend then gives you the cash back minus paypal transaction fee. More expensive than buying I would think so only do this as a last resort.

No currently she has 29850 miles sitting in her account and she will need 30k miles to purchase the one-way reward.

No not tried it as that is an unnecessary expense.

If you are only 150 short and VA can see you have some coming soon I think if you phone to book the reward flight they may allow you to go overdrawn by the 150.

Just spoken to FC red, not much they can do even for the sake of 150 miles. The lady did mentioned the 'buy miles' is down and unknown when it will be up and running again.

Still down, a real pain as I need 10k for an upgrade, and it might fill up. I am giving them till the end of today and after that hopefully they can do something for me...

Had them manually add them in the end, as they had charged me, but their system wasn't working fully...

Assume you dont get 4x£ for the purchase of miles using Black VS Amex?

Just checked the account today and the 1000 miles for £30 has been added to the account for some apparent reason. I am sure non of the transaction went through when I tried to purchase. Now lets hope I didn't purchase 30 x 1000 miles as that was the amount of times I tried.
