Hotel recommendation in Mauritius

Hi Nick

I would totally recommend BEACHCOMBER Hotel Group and in particular the Royal Palm and Shandrani hotels.

The Shandrani is at the southern end of the island which is much quieter and less built up The Hotel is very close to the Airport so close actually that you drive down the old runway to reach the hotel. The northern most part of the lagoon, which surrounds half of the hotels grounds, also gives spectacular views of departing aircraft that fly off the end of the runway directly over the elevated bank of the lagoon.

The staff, Facilities, food, beaches and accommodation at the hotel are all superb. We loved it so much we actually got married there twice.

The royal palm is the flagship hotel for beachcomber and is in the north east of the island where it is more touristy and very close to the capital port Louis. We sent my wifeÕs parents there as a thank you for paying for our wedding. The palm is very sophisticated and attracts the higher end of the tourist market so it may not be for everyone.

Beachcomber have many other hotels in the island and I would defiantly give them some serious consideration, as they are very consistent in their product and levels of service throughout the group.

V-Monkey and I went to The Dinarobin Golf Resort and Spa, this is also part of the Beachcomber group, we went there this March/April for my 30th and it was just amazing, the staff were great, the rooms were amazing, recommend a Senior Suite! It is an all suite hotel. It is at Le Morne so around 1.5hrs from the airport, you get an amazing drive along the south coast.

The hotel caters for honeymooners and young married couples with very little children. We were there over Easter and the hotel was full, however the hotel is on the beach, so you can find a quiet spot, not that it was over run with kids. It is next door the Le Paradis which is a lot bigger and when we were there it seemed to cater for the older children (12-18yrs)

It does depend on what kind of holiday you are looking for, if it is pure relaxation, good food and wine, great staff - Dinarobin it is!

This is just what we're looking for..

A colleague who has relations out there said that the North East of the island is the best area at the time of year we want to go so the Hotel you mention sounds ideal. I'll take a look at your pics and get a feel for the place...

Nice one so i guess you'r not going to fly with BA to Mauritius then?

The east is more sheltered IIRC - who are you going with? The age group of your party can strongly influence your choice of hotel, particularly in Mauritius.

It'll be myself and my GF - we're both in our late twenties and like to have regular holidays for peace and tranquility - is Mauritus a good call?

East coast, have the 2 of the nicest hotels! But being on the east coast is that you don't get the amazing sunsets of the west coast. I was looking at some of the hotels, and to me it was all about sunsets and very good wine/food!

I am biased as we had such a great time! I will now be quiet, as I have gone on enough!

We both have stressful jobs so it doesn't hurt to get away to do nothing in nice surroundings....[:I]
