Yes its terminal.....terminal three as it happens.

I have to overnight at the Hilton at LHR on Thursday evening (July 6th I think). I cant say Ive ever stayed there before or indeed ever overnighted at LHR (usually LGW).

So considering Im there with an associate and would like a simple dinner and a few drinks does anyone have any suggestions. I'm not looking for 5 star but at the same time I don't want to spend the entire time at the Hotel.

So, if you've got a choice of not staying at LHR, another suggestion is to look at the Hilton at London Paddington.

Fifteen minutes on the Heathrow Express and you're at the airport - so as quick as one of the Hotel Hoppas, or hacking across from T4 to T3 - yet you have all the eateries of Central London on your doorstep or a short tube ride away.

A friend who travels through London quite often prefers to stay at the Hilton Paddington since I introduced him to it a couple of years ago, because he hates the isolation of many airport hotels, and likes having somewhere to go out for dinner, rather than end up stuck in the hotel restaurant.

He's become such a regular guest there that he turned up during some sort of travel chaos when there were "no rooms left", when one of the duty managers recognised him and it was a case of "Of course we've a room for you" (damn good one too).

If you've got the option of doing this, I'd recommend it.

Thats a very good idea. Unfortunately the Hilton at LHR is already booked but I'll just jump the HEX and play in Paddington for the evening.

Thanks Mike.

If you change your mind, and want a decent place near to LHR, then the V-Flyer pub / restaurant of choice is The Pheasant, the scene of the first ever V-Flyer social, all those years ago. ;)

It is an easy walk from the hotels on the Bath Road, but I don't know the logistics of getting to it from the Hilton at T4.

if you want to go to the Pheasant you will have to walk to T4 along the bridge then get the HEX to the Central Terminal Area (free) walk to Central Bus Station catch buses 105 111 140 555 285 to the bus stop at the Marriot (free)and walk to the bottom of New Road between Marriot and Radisson Edwardian Plaza (5mins)and its just on the right. and Nick is spot on good food and a good mix of olde pub and modern retaurant. hope this is a help
best wishes

Thanks for the help guys. Depending on how late our Air Malta flight is (and they are usually late) we will play it by ear. Thanks for the heads up on the Pheasant.
