Best Airport for Duty Free Cameras?

I'm on the hunt for a Nikon D200 camera, and of course have started thinking about various Duty Free locations. I have several trips coming up in the next couple of months to the US, Sydney via HKG (although probably no stopover), and wondered if anyone knows the best places to buy a nikon camera?

It used to be the case that duty free in HKG was the favourite, or shops around HKG but having not bought any "luxury" goods in duty free for years I have no idea where the best place would be to try and pick up one of these cameras.

I've purchased 2 cameras recently as well as a couple of lenses, 3 out of 4 purchases, the cheapest place with the best choice was Amazon.com .

As these purchases were shipped, there was no Sales Tax to pay. I've never really found retail shops to be that competative.

Yes, shipped to colleague's addresses and hence the no Sales Tax mention. Amazon is one of the few online companies that allow non-US credit cards to be used this way. It means I now prefer to use them for this type or purchase.

For example, a lense for my Canon was purchased at Amazon.Com, the cheapest UK price I could find was 25% more.

Also..and I was amazed by this..call the Dixons store at LHR, they will be very competitive on price..you just have to let them know what you want and when you will pick it up.

I've had stuff shipped from Amazon to my hotel. Obviously check first if the hotel is OK with it as they my refuse it if not checked in or due in a day or so. Smaller, family hotels and big convention hotels are best. Luxor in Vegas were very accomodating.

If you know anyone that works for BAA then make them your new best friend.[}:)]
They get another discount on top of duty free prices & they can order an item from any BAA duty free shop.
Also, if you choose this option you can use your BAA points card (if you don't have one GET ONE - It'S FREE). Then you could convert BAA points into VA miles[}:)])
