Hi all,

Quick question about Travelex online ordering and collection from LHR. Anyone used their service? Any problems with collection of your cash from the landside kiosk at T3?

Their rate for Japanese Yen is pretty good, so probably going to order this evening for collection on Wednesday morning at the airport...

Yup, use it every time, no probs [y]

SOMEtimes, the wait (and paperwork) to pick it up can be lengthy (5-10 mins), but other than that, no complaints.

Cool, Travelex is it, then!

Out of interest, do you ever use their Buy Back offer, for £3.50? I was trying to work out the maths of how much money I'd have to return for the buy/sell difference to be more than the 3.50 they want off me.

I reckon I need to be looking at having to return at least 50-80 quid for the fee to pay for itself...

Nope. I don't think I've ever come back with any currency though - always end up needing more [:I]

I also use it all the time, never had a problem. Like others have said it can take some time, as they have to over ride the rate etc.....but overall good.

I never bring back any money, so never do the buy back!! [:?]

I always use Travelex and have just ordered our dollars for our US trip on Thursday, its hassle free and they guarantee to have the best rate available online and I have yet to find anybody offering better. I would also not use the buy back service.

No problems....just don't forget to do so! I forgot last month and getting hold of my pre-ordered currency airside was a 30 minute headache [:(!]

Oops! At least they were able to sort it out airside I guess. :)

Ordered my Yen last night, so I'll briefly have a 6-figure sum in my wallet! :)

I had this happen as well once when I ended up connecting though LHR so I wasn't land-side in T3. The air-side Travelex staff did go and pick it up for me though [y] :)

It wasn't a major bother but the staff did make me feel a little stupid [:#] - they sarcastically highlighted that the email confirmation reads "collect before security"....

Don't forget if you're a BA EC member you can collect BA Miles at Travelex (1 mile per £ if buying £250+ with buyback)

Rather typically, after posting how I have never had any problems with Travelex I then encountered my very first one yesterday. Ordered £600 worth of Dollars only for Travelex to twice tell me they couldn't process it because my card was being rejected. Found out that because of the way Travelex draw the money from your bank it shows as an ATM withdrawal and my bank only allow max £500 per day then that is the max I can order[n] Its a strange way Travelex take the money, any idea why they do this?

So a warning to others, if using a debit card to place the order, only order the amount you are allowed to withdraw from an ATM in a day otherwise you with have your order rejected.

Not sure about that Neil, I've ordered cash from them which is WAY over my daily cash-machine withdrawl limit on a few occasions before.

Each time, no problem. [?]

Well I thought I had done so also but then thought I can't have done and was going mad. There is something in the FAQ's on the Travelex site about it and I spoke to Travelex CS too and then said its because they take the payment as a cash advance which is why my bank was rejecting it, maybe its just Abbey then [:?]

Just been on Travelex to order Dollar cheques for pick up at Manchester Airport on Monday and found this message beside my order confirmation:-

Please Note: no orders can be collected at Manchester Airport after 20th August 2007, including redemption of all Buy Back Plus Guarantees

Does this mean that Travelex won't be accepting online orders after that date [?]
