Just before boarding VS045 last Sunday, I couldn't help but notice that the Lady decal had been removed from the aircraft, at least on the left-hand side. I didn't manage a look at the other side. I will try to upload a picture if I can work out how.

Maybe she's been taken for a wash?

These are transfers aren't they? Sometimes they can lift a little and if the wind gets behind it, it can tear, in which case they probably remove it until they can replace it.

Brings back childhood memories of Airfix kits, and soaking the transfer sheets in a saucer of water. They must have a helluva big saucer in the maintenance shop. :D

Maybe the FSM greeted the Lady by name (as she clearly flies frequently enough to be FC Gold) and she fell over with shock? :-)

Maybe VS are scrapping the scantily clad maidens so they're allowed to use jetty served stands (instead of being banished to the cargo terminal) at DXB! [:?]

Oh yeah, I remember but these are the sticky backed vinyl variety ;)

Don't forget if you're on G-VFAB, the Lady is way down the fuselage, and not on the nose.

When I last flew LHR-DXB I asked about this. The pilot said the remote parking was due to VS being second to Emirates at DXB so didn't get priority for airbridge boarding (as did some Emirates flights). It was a nice theory but seems to be heresay...

Not always true as VS recently have had gate access, all depends on time of day. Even EK don't always get a gate, frequently 2 class aircraft will get a coaching stand to allow the big $$ ticket holders (3 class aircraft) gate access.
