Whilst it is a pittance, this is what insurrance is for. I'm still stunned by how many people don't ravel, especially those on business, without it.
I agree about getting insurance, I always have when travelled but have never needed it, until our last trip. When we got home and opened the suitcase which appeared fine on the outside apart from some scuffs, most of the items in the case were soaked, don't know how as there were no liquids so all we can assume is it got soaked at the airport as it was raining when we checked in.
My wifes handbag which she bought on holiday (expensive brand) was in there and was ruined. We tried to claim on the insurance for it and they rejected it by stating unless you report the claim on hold baggage being damaged at the airport tough luck. They basically told us you need to open your suitcase in the baggage hall and check all is OK else your jack out of luck.
Couldn't believe it so we are having a hard time justifying travel insurance in the future.
