I'm flying LGW to MCO in December. Having checked expertflyer today, the plane is virtually empty! So far, it shows only 3 of us in UC, 3 in PE and around 20 in economy - what would happens if the plane still is less than half full nearer the time, do you think they'd 'merge' both LGW flights? I've never seen this flight so empty!

How can you tell the exact loads on expert-flyer; or have I missed something?[:I]

Anyway, doubtful they would merge flights as the return legs will probably/hopefully be more full.

It depends on....the loads not only for the out bound but also for the in bound flight, cargo loads, cost to compensate the pax....I have been on flights where there were maybe 10 people on a 744...very strange feeling.

Don't forget that the EF seat map is only showing people who have actually pre-selected seats not how many seats have been sold. Also with it being an MCO flight, a number of pax will have booked through VH and could just not have pre-selected yet/be doing so at all.

Thanks everyone - I'm hoping it'll be more full as I really don't want to be tranferred to the later flight.

Don't worry, Clare, even if it stays empty I can't see the two flights being merged:)

It was my understanding that VH customers after the 336 day limit were allocated seats and then it was up to the individuals to change those allocated seats?

Nope - on all our previous flights booked through VH nothing was allocated until I went into the "Update booking" section on the VS site and choose some. To be fair a lot of people will pre-select but there are certain ones that don't/won't.

Perhaps it's changed recently but I've never seen that when booking through VH, whether Economy or Premium Economy. It did, however, happen when I booked our upcoming PE flight to Boston directly with VS.
