LGW/MCO Cancellations

I'm starting to get a little worried, I've got a flight coming up in April and I've been reading there's been some cancellations of both LGW/MCO flights (not the same day) recently (latest one today) - is there a problem with some of the Gatwick planes, or is it a case of light loads so they combine 2 flights into 1?

I would imagine that it is to do with very light loads- I last flew into MCO in mid September and my a/c had less than 60 in Y! With schools not breaking up for another couple of weeks and half term long gone I would imagine this time of year is very quiet on the MCO route. I doubt it is due to a technical issue with an a/c normally VS will fly in another a/c to operate the route.

I wouldnt worry too much about it- if your flight does get cancelled you will either be transfered to the other MCO flight or fly the next day and be payed some kind of compensation. In the past on cancelled VS flights I have heard of free Y round trips being offered.

If your flying over Easter dont worry- you flight will certainly not be cancelled due to light loads and VS would ring/email to inform you if it was.

My husband flew back from MCO on Sunday and said the aircraft was only around half full so I think Willd is probably correct.

Personally I'm hoping they cancel my flight on Monday and I have to stay a little longer than planned.

I am sure the deal is similar to volunteering not to fly if the plane is full, which is usually 50,000 miles and a guarantee you'll be on the next flight.
If they cancel the flight, you should be offerred some Cash compensation. I think some operators offer free flights in the hope that they don't have to pay out the cash, and the fact that you might think they are worth more than cold hard cash.

I always factor in another day when coming back, in case of a full load, one easter VS in SF were offloading people for around 8 days, one family I spoke to had successfuly obtained 4 days of free tickets for a family of 5.

I don't mind being stuck in Orlando but I don't want to be a day late getting out there. Hopefully everything will be fine.

Looks like I might get my wish!

The VS015 today, according to VA website hasn't left LGW yet although Flightstats say it is en route.

Anybody shed any light?

Flightaware.com says it didn't leave until 16:14, hope that helps

I did a last minute rush to DTD before it closed, my thought was that although I was quite happy to stay until tomorrow I didn't want to leave at nearly midnight tonight.

They were very helpful and moved me on to the VS028 into UC for 20K miles.

According to staff there, it had left 15 minutes late and then turned back due to passenger illness.

Result!
