Last week the North Korean airline Air Koryo had a bit of a problem at Beijing airport when its weekly charter back to P'y#335;ngyang ran into a spot of trouble.

http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1 ... OfYest=yes

Apparently the fire was put out easily enough.

Whilst realising this is a serious incident, the picture is almost comical with North Korean men, running towards the fire with briefcases to put it out.

Why Air Koryo a/c carry a ladder I do not know. Anyway it made me giggle on a dull Monday morning so thought I would give you all a chance to have a look! :D

Any comments/expereiences on Air Koryo much appreciated. As would the answer to the question who the men are, whats in the briefcases and if AIr Koryo only have ladders for emergency evac. I wonder what happened to the pilot when he got home [:0].

It looks like one of the men is trying to put the fire out with his briefcase? [:?] Very odd!

20,000 miles and a free flight for whoever's first to put the fire out over the PA....[:w]

It looks like all the ground staff vanished when required, the tug driver seems to have unattached himself and disappeared rapidly...:D

Have a look at this link for further close up pictures of them trying to put out the fire and the fire services arriving even then they dont look too bothered. [:I] And notice how the ladder has gone and the door closed! [:o)]

Another happy Sony Viao customer....[:p]

It also tickles me how push bikes are used by the ground crew, lets hope they aren't the fire response team....:D

That's a cracking link. You might also like to see it translated into English (with all the humour that process introduces (including 'Online opportunities through local hemorrhoids -- anal fistula not' - click here.

Oh my what a laugh especially how google have translated it into english such as "Tire wear left behind serious, very obvious signs of combustion, the airport staff, tires need to be replaced." and "the airport quickly using tools such as fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Airport Fire Squadron firemen have rushed to the spot, less than 10 minutes, the fire was put out".

Also on the page was this "said jokingly : Eat, Drink, Man, Woman : encountered bad men will be more charming woman"

Very funny behaviour however it is slightly distorted by the photos being misinterpreted as you will note from the position of the Finn air on taxi. In the first pic with ladder at door the fin air a/c is at the side of the Air Koryo but in the first pic on the second link without ladder at cabin door the Finn air A/C is some distance away approaching the Air Koryo a/c.

Still makes for a good John Cleese sketch

I thought that but if you look closely you will see that the Finnair MD11 is being pushed back not towed in hence the guy standing beside the wheel talking to the pilot. So therefore the picture makes sense. Also in the top picture the CA 737 is arriving on stand and in the 3rd picture it isnt in view as is on stand. Therfore the a.net picture is the first of sequence.

The a.net mods are knowing for being very strict on what makes the cut so will be genuine.
