Wonder if that will be world wide, or just in the US?

In the US the smaller device will cost $299 and the larger $399. Prices in Europe have not been announced but are likely to be higher than direct comparisons suggest.

Shopping trip to the US anyone?

The service launches in October in Seattle and New York. I assume its going to be US only for the immediate future while its rolled out across the country, but here's hoping it goes global.

Fingers crossed I should be in Palm Springs in 2 weeks so I think I'll be picking up a couple of the iPod Touch's one the way back to LAX at Fashion Island. Very nice!

I doubt this means unlimited downloads, unless they have reduced the speed to 14,400 or 28 kbs

I already picked up some new iGoodness in the shape of a new dual core Mac mini while I was in the US last week...

Not out until the end of September apparently, but let us know if they have them on the shelves. I am flying out in 10 days, may pick 1 (or more) up before returning.

Yum yum yum but at 16GB I'll await the next version. As to whether anyone will buy the classic, well now with 160GB that's pretty compelling. Why Apple couldn't have given the Touch at least 40GB now defeats me, and probably their sales.

Personally I wouldn't have an iPod even if you paid me. I think they are over-priced for what they are. I have a 4 year old Creative Zen 30gb Jukebox that has been on every trip with and has survived baggage handlers, being dropped down stairs at LAX, sat on, being lef on a car roof etc etc. It cost less than a £100 and works perfectly.

iPod is all about the name IMHO.

Well, my old 20GB, non colour, non video ipod is full, i'm fed up with swaping songs around, and I've found a willing buyer for it. (Free ipod - he just pays for the 2500 songs at the iTunes rate [:o)])

So I'm considering the 160GB iPOD classic now.
Apple seem to have cornered the market in getting other manufacturers to build iPOD compatibility into their kit.... I quite like being able to control my hidden away iPOD from my car Headunit, and via my Yamaha AV remote control when it's docked in the Yamaha dock attached to my AV Amp.

Exactly, my Dad has always had Polo's and Golf's but now has a better spec'd Skoda for less money. It does lack some of the finishing touches that the VW had though.

And that to me is the same with iPod's, you buy an iPod partly for the name, partly for the connectivity, partly for the extra finishing touches, partly because they just look so sexy.

The reason for the smaller memory size on the touch iPod is because there's no longer a HDD in them, it's just flash memory. Flash memory sizes are ever increasing so I dont think it will be too long before we see more memory on these.

([:0] yet another new version of iTunes installing itself here at the moment, that's the third or is it the forth update since they launched the iPhone a few weeks ago....and people call MS for all the updates they generate [:w])
