In January a friend, her husband and I are hitting New York for a few days. I'm trying to find a hotel that would suit us and preferably accommodate the three of us in one suite/room. Any suggestions?

I should point out that while I like my little luxuries, they are not so like-minded so I suppose I am looking for something in the middle range.

Thanks

We stayed about 18 months ago in the Doubletree Suites Hotel. It's right on Times Square. The suites have a lounge with sofabed and a separate bedroom. The bedroom has a separate entrance into the bathroom. The hotel goes up to 45 floors, so the views are good. I would say price is midrange, and there are plenty of delis around to get food from. Rooms have fridges.

We'd have no problems staying there again.

Well The Affinia 50 have an excellent range of suites in Midtown Manhatten off Lexington Avenue, and just around the corner from Grand Central Station. I stayed there in February and if memory serves me correct it was around £500 for 4 nights.

Nice hotel and I hit lucky with an up - grade to the Penthouse Suite !

Or the Millenium Hilton next to the former World Trade Centre Site. I have a long weekend booked there this weekend at just under £500 for a suite that includes 2 double beds plus living area with Sofa Bed.

Book in advance and you can get some good deals on the Westin Time Square - beautifully designed hotel, great location and the rooms are what you'd expect from a Westin. If you've managed to pick up one of their Platinum (poss Gold) SPG cards, you'll also get yourself onto their executive floor, which is pretty decent.

That time of the year, the promos are on. SPG and AmEx had the buy 2, get 1 free offer this year for W hotels; it cost me $618 in total for 3 nts at the W Times Square.

You could always book somewhere now (that has normal canc policy) and cancel it if a better deal/promo comes up. I'd avoid the Sheratons, but you know that now... [D]

Thanks,
Richard
