I should really know this.... Is this free upgrade from ECO > PE you get when you spend 5K with the Black AMEX card a one way or a return upgrade?

Sure I read before it was oneway but just checking

Thanks

Spend £5,000 on the Virgin Atlantic Black Card each year and you'll get a round trip Premium Economy reward upgrade flight the next time you book a qualifying reward flight in Economy.

The title of this thread has got to be the best way of ensuring it is read by all V-Flyers. :D[8D];)

Hi all

I'm not one for keeping count how much I actually spend on my card, but I always clear it each month! So how would one know when you've reached the required spend?

Is there a way of checking [:?]

Sorry if the question seems a little strange [:0]

Cheers

You phone MBNA and ask them, and they get a calculator out and work it out. They don't seem to have a way to work it out automatically that is readable by the call centre.

Trev,

You will know you have reached the required limit as a line will apear on your FC statement on the VS site saying "VAA Credit Card Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade". You will be then able to use the reward by ringing FC.

To know what you have spend you can either add the balance from your paper statements, or you could ring the CS number on the back of the Amex card and they will be able to tell you what your spends since opening the card account are by adding it up like you would do at home (I have done this a couple of times, couldn't find one of my statements[:I]).

Apart from the required spend, mine was only posted to my FF account on the first anniversary of the changeover from the old MC to the new Amex card.

I check the miles I earned in the last year from the card in my Flying Club account and divided by 4 (as it was 4 miles per £1 for the 1st year) and that told me roughly what I had spent.

The reward itself appeared 5 days after my annual fee was taken off... If I remember right the upgrades appear annually and the free companion appears as and when you have hit the required spend. Could be wrong though!

and yes, it was a cheeky topic title!!!
