Can you use half a Premium upgrade voucher ?

We are looking to book 2 x returns to ORD at the beginning of May using miles (T class) and have just realised that IF they come through to my FC account from MBNA I can use my 2 premium upgrade vouchers for these flights.

I have just checked reward availability on the VS site and PE is only available on the return for the dates we want, and our outgoing flight date is not flexible enough to take advantage of the outgoing availability.
Does anyone know if FC will let us use the vouchers to upgrade 1 way only, and then keep checking to see if there is outgoing upgrade available nearer the date ?

I am not sure if we are likely to use miles to buy flights again this year so the vouchers may go unused otherwise.

Am gonna reply to my own post as I know the answer to this one having spoken to FC.

If you want to use the PE upgrade voucher but U ticket is only available one way then you can use it to upgrade one way, but you will lose the whole voucher.

That's useful to know L2H. We may be in a similar situation in December as our LGW-MCO trip has been booked as 2*one way. The question here is whether we can use it for a return trip even though it has not been ticketed that way or whether it can be used for one leg only.

I don't hold out much hope trying to use them, looks like those U fares are as rare as hens teeth
If we don't get to use them for LAS, I will try again when we go to SFO later this year.
Mind you they still haven't appeared in my FC account so another call to MBNA may be in order [V]

Well the PE upgrade saga continues.
Having been told last week that I was entitled to 2x PE upgrade vouchers, I called again yesterday and was told that I am not.[?]
I haven't spent enough apparently.

Now I am totally confused as to when my card anniversary date is.
I had the fee paying mastercard (Nov 2005) and then upgraded to Black Amex July 2006. In August 2006 a companion voucher appeared in my account. I assumed that since I have spent at least 10k since then ( [:0]) I would now be intitled to a PE voucher. Apparently not. Having spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to work out what was what I gave up.
I really cannot face calling them again today to clarify.[:#]
Has anyone else actually received the PE upgrade vouchers, and if so what was your spending and card anniversary date ?
The explanation on the VS site really doesn't make it clear whether you have to spend a total of £12,500 to get both types of vouchers or whether £7500 would entitle you to both.

If you look at some of the previous threads within this section you will see that some have received their upgrade vouchers but many have not.

There seems to be no logic as to why some have had them credited to their account early, as the way I read it they are issued on the first year anniversary of getting the Amex card, which for most will be July of this year.

Personally, I haven't received any but will expect two by the anniversary having now spent over £20,000 since last July and unfortunately looking at this month's statement I am now only earning 2:1 miles and no bonuses - but I did expect that, was just hoping they might cock up their figures to my benefit.

Thanks Jilly, I guess I'll wait til July and see if anything materialises in my FC account.
Fingers crossed I will get 2xPE vouchers and we'll be able to use them when we go to SFO in the Autumn.

Looks like if a reward seat comes up for our LAS trip in May I'll be able to use miles to get into PE but hubby will stay put as he is on a companion ticket.. oh well ! [}:)]
