Best Value Harbour View Room in HK

Hi guys,

I'm still trying to work out where to put my parents when they stop over in HK in December [:?]

I really wanted to put them in a harbour view at the Pen, but we're just about to buy a house and I don't think my budget can stretch that far.

Any suggesstions for the best value harbour view room in HK ?

It needs to have a bit of glam and be in a good location for a couple of pensioners who are likely to get lost [:p]

Actually next door to the Pen is the YMCA which apparently is very good. A friend of mine from Hong Kong regularly has visitors to stay there. Try this link

Yes I did see that, but I just thought the rooms looked a bit 'travel lodge', if you know what I mean.

Might have another wee look though.

Even though its an Mandarin Oriental property, the Excelsior at Causway Bay can be cheap (in comparison to the MO, FS Pen etc)
Rooms are bit dated, but on the whole I was very pleased with the hotel.

They have the Dicken's Bar in the basement too [:p]

The best Harbour view rooms looking toward HK island are at the InterContinental.I prefer to stop on the island,the best Harbour view room I have stayed in here was a corner suite at the new world harbour view.It's name has changed now but it's the one in the same complex as the grand Hyatt, which will have the same stunning view.The Ritz Carlton has good harbour views but I always take the city view as I find it more interesting plus it saves a few quid.

They have the Dicken's Bar in the basement too

I agree with Jaguarpig, Intercontinental has the best views of the Harbour! And not that expensive either. The view from the lobby is GREAT!!

Out of a matter of interest which one are we talking about. There are two on Intercontinentals Web Site, The Hong Kong and The Grand Stanford. They appear to be close to each other.

I'm in HK. now and I'm staying at the Hotel Nikko, which have some great views of Victoria Harbour, and its on Mody Road, and is also next door to the Intercontinental Grand Stanford.Hotel Nikko

I've been looking at the IC hotels again and the Grand Stanford seems really good value and gets excellent reviews.

I can get them a King Harbour View on the Club Floor for £150 pn which seems like great value when compared to the other IC [:?]

They will love all the extras that you get on the Club Floor, so it's looking like a strong contender at the moment.

Good choice, From the Intercontinental Grand Stanford, its easy access to everywhere from there by bus or the ferry, also at the Intercontinental they have a great Italian restaurant called The Mistral good food & great service at great prices.

The only real negative I've come across for the Grand Stanford is that aparently breakfast and drinks at the ar are quite expensive, but that wouldn't be an issue if I book the Club Floor because you get breakfast, afternoon tea, drinks, canapes

Shame I can't book a Rolls Royce for them (like at the Pen) so they'll have to slum it in a Merc [:p]

You can also try the Sheraton, stayed there a few years back now but was good at the time.
