How else do you expect them to get such a high Downloads figure for iTunes?

Much as I like the look of the iTouch, i've really lost faith in Apple. My MacBook is literally falling to bits.

Buns, if you did want to return it in exchange for the new one, Apple are usually pretty good about this kind of thing in the shadow of a new launch. Did you buy it in the UK?

Thanks,
Sarah

Yes I did buy it in the UK, but I think I will stick with the 2G all the same - many thanks

I too don't like the looks of the new iPod Nano. Looks as though it's put on some weight over 12 months! [:o)] Having said that, good move to Apple by featuring video playback but then again I'm sure that the 2nd Generation Nano's screen is more than adequate for video.

Think I'll stick with my 4GB 2nd Generation Nano for now thanks...until it breaks.

Amazon.com have the launch date as the 30th September....

As for the Apple TV: the lack of content really isn't a problem as I've everything I own (DVD's / CD's) on there. Hope the wifi store comes to the apple TV!

James

There are other Apple stores in the Chicago area. I know there is a big one in the massive Woodfield Mall out at Schaumburg. I don't know if you have a hire car, but the mall seemed well served by public transport when we were there earlier this year.

Picked 2 of the 16Gb models from the Apple store at Newport Beach Fashion Island before my flight home on Tuesday. They had "plenty" of the at Touch's and iPhones in stock.

Have to say as liking Apple products for a long long time this is the biggest WOW I have given when using one for the first time. Was sold straight away as the multi touch interface is just class. Would have picked up an iPhone but considering how much hacking you have to do to unlock it and the fact that you can bet your bottom dollar Apple will lock it again a future update, I think I'll be sticking with my N73 instead of moving to O2 on those tariffs.

Has anyone got a working discount code for the Apple Store UK?

Not sure it's worth waiting till I go to NYC, the price difference isn't that much for an itouch, when you add the tax on.

I paid £218 after currency conversion on my Mastercard on Tuesday this week from the Newport Beach store. UK price is £269 so also use quidco and you'll get a bit more back.

Well, I get a slightly better price through our work discount scheme, but maybe I should wait till I go to NYC in November. [:?]

Yep, thats why I'm glad I didn't pick one up. Personally I think Apple is just shooting themselves in the foot with this. Not everyone wants to be locked to a specific carrier, esp in europe where phone unlocking is common, and until they allow it I won't be buying one.

So I've heard the average length of time that ipod owners have before turning to a new model is around 6 months, is it me or are they now merely fashion accessories? What's the point of that? I agree with Darren, I wouldn't own one even if you paid me.

I have this Hi-MD player, a Sony MZ-NH1, 3 years old but still looks simple yet stunning, and sounds way better than any ipod I've seen. I wouldn't trade it for quids.

I still have a 20GB 3rd gen iPod, that I have had for several years. (2003 IIRC) [8D]

It has got over 4,000 songs on it, and it does me fine - I even managed to fit a new battery in it. [|:)]

Nick

I must admit to being tempted by the iTouch though. :D[:I]

I had my original 4Gb mini for 12 months and put it on eBay and got all my money back.

The bought a 30Gb 5G iPod Video 2 years ago I think. I'm still going to keep this and use it as a portable disk for backups but I'm in love with this touch!

Started with a 15Gb 3rd gen iPod, which latest about 12 months with the battery only lasting about 10 minutes before I 'upgraded' to my current 30Gb black video iPod which is now 2 years old and still going strong.

All my iPods have been bought in the US as well [:I]

I think there's a good deal of vanity in that - I've had iPods for like years and upgraded only when size limitation hit. And, I can use an iPod for 12 hours a day for months at a time with no problem when I take the next flight with running it for 10-12 hours more!

But ... I won't have an iPhone at all with the lock in.
