On Friday, I ummed and ahhed over upgrading my current three year old ipod to one of the new versions at the Apple store in the SoHo area.

I then decided to go for it when I was back in the midtown area at the 5th Avenue store later that day. However, the store was closed for two hours for the launch of leopard....[n]
Grrr...

Guess I'll just have to pay UK prices, or wait for my next trip to the US...

Yeah, all the Apple stores had a closure (from 4-6pm IIRC) in order for the geniuses to deploy Leopard to all the Macs in store ready for the launch. It was the same here in the UK.

Thanks,
Sarah

Apple do a very good job of price fixing, just buy at another store over there, it's all the same price.

Buying from an Apple store may be a priority if you benefit from a corporate discount programme with Apple.

It matters not what they charge, their products are fantastic. It's almost sinful to want them cheaper! All hail the joy that is Mac.

Do what I did, and go to a place like Currys, offer to pay in cash, and save money on an iPod and a few accessories like I did! :) Last December I bought a 2nd Gen iPod Nano 4GB, a leather case and a charger with 4 different plugs all for £150, saving £20! :D

Apple store in the Arndale Centre, Manchester weren't willing to do me a deal so I wasn't prepared to do business with them, simple as.

Also, what is the hype over Leopard?

SOME would point out that it's the same hype that Microsoft were trying to achieve with Vista... [:w];)

One trip to the Apple store with father and he is buying a MacBook. Apple's products work without the drama of Microsoft. Still Apple does make (design, build and market) both software and hardware; and the do a hell of a good job at that. Look at the market share numbers, stock price, etc.

Indeed, but I guess only Mac buffs would get the hype over Leopard, and question the hype over Vista - or the presence of it. ;)

Well, I've always been a Windows user up to now but Vista is rapidly pushing me towards an iMac.

Just hope my current PC lasts until next year when I plan to replace it with a nice new shiny iMac [:w]

Dell have just started to sell PCs with XP fitted again. It seems you aren't the only one who dislikes Vista, James.

People on here!

If you can get a Mac, do it. They are just the most wonderful, easy, and enjoyable piece of kit. Yes, we use ours for writing, but it just does everything beautifully and is a pleasure to use. PC? never again, horrible, cumbersome, crappy things. Why not enjoy and take pleasure from something so wonderfully made, and so fantastic to use, we cannot praise Mac enough.

Love,

Two girls who rely on their Macbook around the world x

Seems like a good time to resurrect this video especially as they reference the last Mac I worked on. Worth bearing with even if just for the line "it's a great big mess for elitist nerdy schmucks". Well something has to rhyme with Linux.
