Ryanair snubs Commons enquiry

Ryanair refuse to appear before Commons enquiry.

According to the BBC website, Ryanair have refused to give evidence to an enquiry into whether flying is becoming less pleasant.

I have to admit to being rather ropey on Constitutional Law, but I thought if you were 'asked' to appear, it was the same as a summons.

Well my thinking would be that as Ryan Air is based in Ireland they can refuse to if they wish..though they do have a large UK operation.

Part of me hopes that one day Ryanair will need to be asking the government for support in some matter, and they'll have a chance to tell them where to shove it.

Once again Ryanair are thinking they are immune to stuff like this just because they are based in Ireland.

But they hold a UK CAA Air Operating Certificate AND they have a large presence in the UK, heres hoping that someday they are landed with a massive lawsuit against them. [}:)]

Especially as Gwyneth Dunwoody is probably one of the last people you want on your back. As she heads the Select Committee on Transport, she has a lot of power to wield.

Being rather sad and having no life whatsoever, I watched, or more listened to the hearing.

The first thing that was obvious was just how annoyed Gwyneth Dunwoody was that Ryanair 'declined' to take part.

The second thing is just how much distain there is among the other LCC's and VS/BA to Ryanair.

I wouldn't like to be Mr O'Leary when he asks/demands the UK Government do something about whatever....
