Many things were going through my mind on Sunday morning. Mainly 'why'?
Due to a mixup of dates, I'd ended up going to the OH's sisters wedding in Essex the day before. Thus, I had to get up at the inhumane hour of 4am to get back to Southampton, where my friend who was also running HR, would pick me up.
This, added to insufficient training because of injury, and a nagging cold, wasn't ideal preparation for a 10-11 mile 'undulating' cross-country race. Especailly as I'm a road-racer.
Hellrunner basically involves some rather nasty hills, water and a bog. It's also rather fun.
Timewise I made a rather dissapointing 1hr 34mins, but it was a fun morning anyway -

This is me exiting the 'bog of doom' (waist deep, stinking trench of evil that it is)

Next two are of the lake at mile 8 (nice and cold to numb your legs and feet!)

Me after the finish sporting my Hellrunner tshirt (bit miffed we didn't get medals!) -

And finally some rather muddy feet, socks and shoes -

Next stop - Grim Challenge in December.

Good lord! [:o]

I remember having to do something similar (but not quite as intense) with the school in our first year. I think it was meant as a bonding/leadership exercise. I remember one lad losing his shoes in the water and I dislocated my arm at the shoulder.

Thanks,
Sarah

If you like that kinda thing you should try Tough Guy here in Wolverhampton. And not the summer one - only big girls blouses do the summer one!! And if you do it in Wolves you have a local friendly massage therapist to help ease the pains from the muscles.

The Winter one is always in Jan ... so some time to get applications in! Though I have just been told that one year it was held on January 32nd. They couldn't fit it into a traditional Jan so they just extended the month. Genius!

I salute your get up and go and desire for doing this[y]
